If you can't afford a set of springs, you can't afford to ride. They are not expensive.
Blue plates are over heated and distorted, out of spec.
Washers are added unnecessary parts, in a moving clutch. Just pretend they split, (Chinese) crappy steel. Where do they go? What damage do they do with a rotating mass in a confined area?
You don't need a micrometer to measure plates, vernier is fine. Steels have to be checked for warpage on a sheet of glass or a flat plate.

Does your clutch basket have grooves in it?
The plates settle into these and you need a smooth surface on those faces.
Otherwise all the other remedies won't fix anything.

I'd be very careful about fitting washers under the springs. When I measured up the springs, they are essentially fully compressed when the clutch is disengaged. Fitting washers could prevent the clutch from completely disengaging when the lever is pulled.Bare wrote:Frictions are cheapish.
Worn out ones measure at Very little less than Brand new ones.
Fitting larger Yamaha friction discs is a No brainer imo ..30% more friction area.
Which hold lots mo' power and even wear less.
What's not to like ?
One also gets to trashbin those worthless rubber damper rings Yama fitted for a few model years.
IF convinced that the pore springs are knackered (I remain skeptical that they often are)..
Measure 'em and if so a simple corrective bodge would be to fit a washer under them.
That will increase the spring preload, without Effing up the clutch feel.
