RD/R1 Hybrid conversion question

Got a line on a t-boned 2001 R1 yamaha. Going 2 examine the front/rear suspension and all braking gear - may include Marchesini wheels, 4 the project. Read other threads and get the sense the R1's are just as workable as R6's for conversions. Is that the case or r there concerns re the R1?

Some people say the front end is a bit stiff, but otherwise its a lot of newish good parts for not much coin :)
