Lil' rat RD350LC

#1 Post by Factionsk8 » Fri Mar 29, 2013 8:23 pm

I own a skateshop, so my RD is going to have a skateboard theme. I am going to get a custom side mounted skateboard rack made to bolt onto the bitch bar mounts.

Raw tank, clear coated, with graphics I had made plus a big ol' Thrasher Magazine skategoat sticker on top. Matching raw/clear pipes.

superkewl! Love the dumed down rat idea, and not far enough away from standard that it cant go back etc. the details will make a bike like this. more coated basemetal small parts will really pull it together. nice.

I cut down the front fender which IMO makes it look better. Had little checkerboard strips made and I have one running down the middle of it. I am running a 100/90-18 tire up front and in order to make it fit I had to re-shape the fender bracket.

I am waiting for a couple of Yamaha emblems to see where would be the best place for them. My goal for this bike was to make it run like a top and give it my personal touch looks wise, nothing special or over the top. Since I was building this in my retail shop I coulnt really go too deep into the rebuild. But this will do for the time being, then next winter I might strip it completely.

Ultimately I would like to put on an aluminum swingarm with aftermarket shock. And of course a beefier fork. I am running a YZ bend MX bar but I would rather have something slightly higher like a CR high bend. Gotta have moto bars!

How about some bar ends or crash bobbins made out of skate wheels?

Not a bad idea. I was trying to figure out a way of using skateboard wheels. Gotta get a side mounted skateboard rack now. Took it up the street for the first time. Runs nice.

I have a friend who recently built up a hot rod truck. He put on a set of wheelie bars with big red longboard wheels

If you want a cool look...for skateboard wheels. Utilize them for your turn indicator lights, modified with bulbs L.E.D. and mounting stalks, pretty easy actually and will give a really good look, probably better than anything else and practical as well.

I used to see a awesome old 60s HONDA in HB/NEWPORT years ago that did this, he also had the cargo racks with length cut skateboard decks, the side panels were board material as well. The RZ is kinda a hard bike to transfer the style and image...but The wheel/indicators would be a great start.

I can see your bike right now, buy a OEM/repo rack for a RD/RZ modify it for deck slats, add the skate wheels to the indicators then do your graphics/advertising with a wild vinyl design! OR HELL JUST STICKER BOMB ALL THE BODY WORK with your skate stickers..easy and cheapo!! show and go and promotion for your shop as well :smt023

HERES A LINK TO SKATE WHEELS, MACHINE 13 http://machine-13.blogspot.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; this kid has done some awesome HONDA rebel bobbers and does the skate wheels, do a search of his lil bobbers and you will like what this guy does, for just a average guy.
