Hi all,
Not sure if my old girl belongs amongst this lot, but thought id put it down anyway. Saw it on the corner of my street with a for sale sign on it ( couldnt not buy it), anyway after a few fixes its been zinging around the Gold coast hinterland happily without missing a beat for nearly 10,000ks. Its getting close to needing a fresh top end so plan is to strip it right down and either restore or modify (17 in wheels ect), havent decided yet.

cheers

Ok. Rob from Woolooware near Cronulla.

85 RZ 250 with 350 top end:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSRYAOTmkX0" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Since the vid, I've put on some cigar pipes and changed out to some used wheels in the black scheme, as well as a bunch of other little things.

My first smoker and I am loving it. Had it for about a year and a half. Been slowly sorting it (time and $ and lots of both :smt003) and it runs sweet but I am finding out that a lot of the performance this bike has, has been being held back by me! I am learning to stretch the throttle cable, keep up the revs and slip the clutch, and am amazed at how this bike can zing when you get everything right. It's been a steep learning curve for me but I think, having been only a 4 stroker 'til now, that owning a 2 smoke is an essential part of any rider's experience.

Frikkin' addictive though. My other two bikes are big-bore Hondas but I find it way easier to ride them in a legal fashion. Something about the zing of a smoker makes it real hard to keep it under the speed limit. But you guys already know about that and struggle with it every ride!

Cheers.
Just recently caught the stroker virus...prognosis terminal...

Gday all,

Had a 83 RZ350 as my first roadbike back about 12 - 13 years ago. Loved it to bits but ended up getting a ZX9R to replace it as soon as I got my big bore licence. Being young and stupid, the poor old RZ got neglected from that point on and I'm sad to say it has sat in pieces in the olds shed for the last decade. On the positive side at least I didn't get rid of it completely. Unfortunately the same can't be said for all the spare parts I had (2 complete parts bikes). Apart from one frame, the bottom ends and a set of wheels the rest of it went to the tip. :smt021

Fast forward to a few days ago and decided it was time to bring the old girl back to life. Was heading up to my hometown (Geraldton) anyway so took it as an opportunity to bring back as much of it as possible. Fun fact for everyone - you can fit an entire RZ in parts into the back of a ford focus along with a shitload of other luggage with a bit of careful planning.

Here is one of the few photos I have of the old girl back in ~2001 when she was still a runner. Fuel tank was knackered back then as you can see, so I hate to think of the condition it is in now. Had given it an overhaul shortly after buying it, including new paint and a top end rebuild. Splashed out on it a little bit later in its life with a set of jolly moto pipes, but apart from that she was pretty much completely stock.

And a photo of the freshly chromed jolly moto pipes also. Still gives me warm fuzzy feelings even now.

I can't actually remember why I stripped it down it was so long ago. I have a feeling it might have holed a piston on a cold night after fitting the jolly moto pipes, so motor will be getting stripped down to inspect for damage and replace seals/gaskets etc.

Plan is to get it running and rego'd as cheap as possible first, then the mods can come later. I know the powervalves are screwed however and if a piston is holed also it might be getting a 421 kit put into it sooner rather than later. Have also got a 2000 model R6 front end and wheels, FZ swinger, R6 wheels, R6 tank/subframe/seats/tail section etc that I purchased way back in the day with big visions. No idea if I'll use any idea of it still or keep her relatively standard.

cheers,
Kris

Hi JonW,

On holidays ATM in Bali. Should have some pics of the new stroker cowl in couple of weeks as I will not get to see it this time out.

My importation process is nearing shipping time and all bikes have been crated ready for dispatch.

I will have a "how to map" to share once it is all completed but its not that hard really.

Regards

BW
