Thanks everyone. It's been a very fun and exciting build. I have made a bunch of new friends here, including one local who just happens to be my builder Bill Wilson.
I wanted to clean up the rear fender area but was advised against cutting on my perfectly good fender. I am buying a pre-cut fender from a member on the cheap and putting my good rear fender and tail section on a shelf in the garage. Who knows what I might want to do with it later.
I decided to go with the Buell turn signals. They are Italian made and have rubber mounts. I am getting the smoked lenses and longer stalks for the front. They are about $20 each from the local dealer. Here is a pic.

Got a little more work done today. I received the cut rear fender from member silverstrom today, it was just what I needed. We cleaned the cut edge up a bit with Bill's grinding tool, and I cleaned the back portion of the frame while everything was apart.
The cage that holds the turn signals and tail light was bent and a little crusty looking so first I straightened it the best I could by eye. I'll re-check it once I get the turn signals mounted. Then I scuffed it up and shot it with some satin black.
I don't have all of the parts to mount the turn signals yet but couldn't resist holding them up just to get an idea of what they are going to look like.
We plan on fabbing up a bracket out of aluminum to mount the license plate. Once the turn signals are sorted, then we will be ready to mount the solo cowl. There is a vintage bike show two weeks from today and we plan on riding there!!!

Tonight Bill fabbed up a license plate bracket out of aluminum. Of course, he had to polish it up to a mirror shine. It turned out nice, but I think I will probably redrill the license holes to move the plate up a bit.
While he was doing that I finished tiding up the turn signal wires and started putting the mounts for the solo cowl on the seat. I didn't take any pictures of that process because I was a little stressed out poking holes in my seat and also drilling holes in the cowl for the mounting brackets. But here's the finished product.
Overall, I am very happy with the way things have turned out so far. This holiday weekend I plan on sorting out the front turn signals while Bill continues to tweek the adjustments on the carbs.

Those Buell turn signals look great. I've been contemplating a set for my bike as well. Will they work for the front turn signals as well? Hard to tell if the stalk will be long enough...BrianT wrote: ...

The fronts are longer and require stand offs which push the lens out past the fairing. I am sitting in the HD parking lot right now where I picked them up!

I got the front turn signals mounted last night. They mounted easily. Plug and play, except they wouldn't blink!! They would light up, so I knew I had wired them correctly, but no blinky?!? I took them apart and swapped in the stock bulbs and they worked fine. The problem with that was that the amber cover inside would not fit over the larger style stock bulb. Luckily the auto parts store was still open and I was able to buy four 1156NA bulbs. Popped them in and they work like a charm.
I have to work this morning, but Bill is going to play with the carbs a little then ride it over to Mike the tuner's shop. Hopefully they'll be able to make some real progress on getting the carbs dialed in.

I brought the bike home tonight for the last time. It is here to stay for a while. The carbs are sorted out enough for me to put some serious miles on them. Bill and Mike think that my Spec II pipes might be holding us back a little on the top end, so we are going to hold off any final tuning and dyno runs until I can decide on which pipes I want to run and then figure out how I'm gonna pay for them! lol
Here are some pics that I took tonight with a decent camera. I am very pleased with the way the bike turned out and am looking forward to riding to the vintage bike show this weekend.
