Yo! from Montreal

#1 Post by Jocko99 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 10:43 pm

I've been lurkin' for a bit as my bikes been running great for 3 years. A barn find when I got it but looking better now. Figured I'd join in the fun. :smt003
Here's the ol' beast... Totally stock except the paint of course but I've been thinking about a Zeel to keep me busy over the winter.

Thanks guys, I painted it myself. First time using the HVLP but you gotta start somewhere. I get a lot of smiles from people as they recognize the sound of the 2 stroker. [smilie=punk.gif]

Welcome aboard Jocko! Nice paint job indeed. Your ride looks about the same year as mine. Body work looks pretty decent. How'd you luck out?

I bought an 81 RD new when I was younger after racing motocross and really loved it. 3 years back I though I would look for one for a birthday present to myself. I got this '88 in a few boxes but it ran. It's the only one I could find so I went to work rebuilding everything and a fair bit of tank and plastic work. By spring I was riding it around town. I got the decals from RdDecal, shot the bike Corvette yellow and there you go. 25 year old bike and people ask me if its new. :smt005 Of course this year never came in my black/yellow paint scheme.

Here is the before shot after I cleaned it up a little (this is the side it was dumped on)

Here is a before shot after I cleaned it up a lot. (clean side) The picture makes the bike looked better than it did and after I painted those horrible red rims. Too bad the other side was so bad I would have kept it like this. The KR paint is better IMO.
