85 RWB RZ350

#1 Post by toonbobo » Wed Apr 22, 2009 6:46 pm

hello everyone! I'm new here. I'm 20 years old and I live in Livermore CA. My dad bought me an RZ350 back in 2004.. and I finally have my M1 licenses, so it's time to get wrenching on the bike to fix the odds and ends on it.

Here are some pictures for your enjoyment :smt004

I hope to learn a few things from this forum. I can already see that there is a lot of information here!

Coolest Dad ever!!!

My RZ350 looked like that when I bought it new in 1985. I still love the bike just as much as the day I bought it.

Respect the power of your RZ and ride safe. :smt023

Yes, respect the power. Too true. And also respect the lack of power that the brakes offer. Only use the rear brake for holding still on an incline and never use it to stop in a hurry.

smoker and smurph, thanks a lot!! I definitely will respect my bike. I know it is a very special collectors bike. I've adored this model for years!

smurph, you are right about the brakes. I thought they would be much stronger up front because of the dual discs. My dirtbike front brake feels much stronger, but there is a lot less weight on that bike.

aaronmvrider, nice bike! Did your bike come with the black wheels or did you have them painted? It looks much better than the stock gold wheels IMO.

i believe it is an australian model color for wheels, although the 500 has gold wheels, if you put braided lines on front you will have plenty of stopping power, rear line is not necessary as less braking is done on the rear, i put new wave disks on and a master cylinder and it stops on a dime from cruising speeds, i am having my tank reconditioned at the moment, rust issues, so i should be back on the road in 2 weeks, also looking for after market rear shock and might raise rear ride height.

Cheers

badass- I think my dad has enough on his hands with my brother and me!

350bfine- My dad had an RD400 back in the day so I think he wanted to keep the 2 stroke heritage alive! :smt003
