track day mv agusta
Phillip island exiting siberia
did a track day a few years ago, found a nice photo, awsome track to ride really wide and excellent surface really world class track when compared to eastern creek although give me a chance to ride and i would ride both of them without even blinking an eyelid
nearly finished the rz 500, pistons and barrels back next week, bolt back together and check squish gaps, then back to machinery shop to correct then i should be back on the road

words dont do it justice, the track is at least 10 - 12 meters wide at any point, exiting turn 11, 12 nicely banked corner in 4th gear doing 210 still leant over on entry to main straight, southern loop so decieving down hill run leant over in excess of 200 approaching a hairpin, hold gear to siberia hay shed kink uphill to lukey hieghts blind off camber corner down into mg corner 2nd gear short shift 3rd and into 4th across top of turn 11 and you are back onto main straight, just some of the highlights on the track, it is such a fast track everywhere, i will be there in 2 weeks for gp sitting in a fully catered tent on honda hairpin just off southern loop watching the stars of today go by sipping my beverage, i was on pilot power road tyres, couldnt fault them for performance and i was using my lap timer on bike doing 1 minute 50s for a lap, by no means the quickest but the best fun ever, hands down
when i get both my rz's finished i am heading to eastern creek taking both bikes and alternating sessions on them

adjusted jetting and needle settings today, running standard carbs with 2 into 1 toomey air pod, jim lomas pipes, standard electrics and powervalve motor etc, 420 main jet, needle on leanest setting (highest groove on needle ), 25 pilot jet, runs like you wouldnt believe, will throw a new set of plugs in it for a plug chop read after a bit of a run around, the bike has really sprung into life with these settings, crisp all through range of revs, i am using 1 tooth down on front sprocket, heaps of fun exceptionally quick bike now
i was off the mark on my original jetting too small on mains and felt like i was running out of top end revs, not enough power kick in higher revs
cant wait for tomorrow to go for a spin

I have that same magazine Aaron, bought it just because of the RZ article and it was the start of an obsession for me to own another RZ - thanks for that! (though I don't think that's what my wife would say...)
I rode out to Healsville last weekend (not on the RZ unfortunately) and checked out the VJMC rally. What a great day and a fantastic line up of jap classic bikes. There were 2 x RZ350's, 1 x RZ250 and a lovely RZ500 with RGV front & rear ends and beautiful pipes (2 x on the RHS). Plus there was everything from a TZ750 race bike (awesome!) to an oval piston NR750... how often do you see one of those?
That's been all the encouragement I need to get stuck in to my RZ, so i gets brought home next weekend for 3 weeks of 'playing' - will be interesting to see what surprises lie in wait for me.
Did you end up getting the Hagon shock?
Cheers, Richard.

no not yet i have been so busy at work ( relaunching a 300 seat bistro ), going to moto gp, firing staff, family life in general, rebuilding the 500, and not to mention the ironing .... just joking about the ironing
i am planning on doing some sort of rebuild on the 350 next year, may take her off the road for a year ( ride the 500 ) and really tidy the engine up and suspension, and electrics maybe a modern ignition system, programmable, lightened fly wheel rotor etc...
did you make it to the gp

just finished the 500 have been for a few rides locally to run her in and have some different jets on the way, keeps fouling plugs, i think i may run standard pilot jets and 220 mains, and run it with hotter plugs, all running according to plan apart from the odd plug not firing correctly
had a ride on the 350 today and a major noise coming from bottom end bearings..... looks like the rebuild is 3 months early made it home about 1 kilometer with noise and not siezed and has good compression still...... unsure what to do yet.... 4 mm stroker 90 degree firing order sounds the go

Hey Aaron, that 500 is looking mighty fine, congrats on getting it finished and on the road..... just in time for the 350 to $h^t itself... Now thast's bad luck - or maybe it's actually good timing??
Anyway good luck with your options on the engine - there seems so much to choose from. Yesterday Xmas arrived early for me with $1300 of engine parts arriving from TSS - including brand new crank (normal one), wosner pistons, gaskets, seals, gearbox bearings and billet powervalves (which look magnificent). I drop the engine off on Sat to the place that will build it for me (RGV Spares).
The rest of my bike is strewn in a million pieces across the garage and there's now more of it apart than there is together... I've just spent days stripping, repainting and rebuilding the front calipers and I've actually really enjoyed it - provided they work of course...

Sorry Aaron, I just realised I probably shouldn't have posted a pic of my bike... er, 'bits' in your thread. I tried to edit it but couldn't seem to work it out, apologies.

dont worry about photo, played around with jetting on the 500 yesterday and seems 95 % there just the slightest stumble but no lag at around 4500 revs, power is amazing brakes and handling are lousy 350 would carve it to bits without a problem

update on 350
barrels and casings, head at sand blaster, havent ordered pistons as yet, all internals seem to be ok so i have decided to go with standard crank at the moment barrels will be rebored and new rear shock is already in the bike, just need everything back in the bike so i can set the sag on rear shock and check the front ??? standard forks may need some attention
may have a write up in magazine soon for the 500 ?? sent of some photos will see how they respond soon
not another photo of the penske shock !!!!
