I was the fortunate rider selected to race Ed's bike in the 1985 season. We won both California AMA Pro Am 600cc Superstreet races (by big margins), many RZ Cup races and the AFM/Yamaha RZ Cup Championship. The RZ Cup events allowed for pipes (which Ed manufactured and sold) but stock motor. The AMA events were anything goes and Ed built and tuned a rocket ship that handled fantastic.

Awesome! Id bet I saw you race at some point. Ive been sold on Toomeys work since I bolted up his kit on my 85 RZ, So many people just dont know how dammned good that pipe performs. I met a guy in the mid 90s , If I remember correctly...running a bike he stated with a Toomey/Ross Baron? built engine, w altered case and, redesigned headwork...man was that bike rocketship from mid range to top gear, he shot out of corners like a cannon easily pulling a few bikes on others then kept the gap. with Toomey pipes that looked same as mine? Bike was dynoed at 78-80h.p. Shows, what a good tuner was capable of.
Any insight as to the specs on the AMA engine pipe mods, that would be a fun and educational read. Actually anything is entertaining, they may be small bikes, but BIG fun!

Definitely not factory rims and look at that tiny rear sprocket.
Imagine the top speed on that thing is close to 150 !!!
Tank slap at that speed ?
No thanks ! :smt022
