Added an organ donor to the fleet.

Yes Yes I know its a 4 stroke but look carefully at the picture of the front end, you got the idea. 89 FZR600 cheap, the PO messed with the carbs and could not get the bike to run. Will restore it sometime in the future after I harvest a few major suspension components to help its ill handling brother. And that's why I was late to the bike show yesterday.

Sweet! Hurry up and get it all swapped over. I want to try your 500 again with 17" wheels. :)

I like the fact that it's period correct with the lower legs.

Pretty sure the rear is an 18 inch wheel.

Yes the rear is 18" but wider rim and greater selection of tires.

Just under 2 weeks ago I came across another 89FZR600 parts bike on a farm 10 minuets north of my home. The new owner of the farm only knew it was a Yamaha and he wanted it gone and he even offered to deliver it for me since I lived quite close by. Yea right, I waited 2 days and no bike so I got a hold of my friend Offroad and we went out on the weekend to pick it up. So my plan is to use it to fix up the first bike and still have a suspension swap for the 500. Its been very rainy and cold for the last week and a half so I locked myself in the garage and went to work on the restoration. I will post pictures of the process as time permits.

The first FZR600 needed a set of carbs according to the previous owner, so the first thing it did is remove and service the carbs off the "Farm Yard Bike". The bike was in bad shape but it had a lot of good body parts that the first bike didn't have or was in worst shape.

You are collecting bikes faster than I am.

That solvent tank does a great job of cleaning up carbs.

How bad are the carbs on the first one? I have an xz550 that may be able to use a couple of those but most I have found are too pricey just to find if they will fit.

I wasn't planning to try to run them, just checking fit/clearances but thanks anyway.

Today is exactly two weeks since I picked up the donor farm bike and this project has turned into a full blown restoration which is about to be completed today. Admin feel free to move this to Custom Projects-Other Bikes. I was able to reap a lot of parts from the farm bike including gas tank, headlights, fairing brackets, rear fender with reflectors, turn signals, misc hardware and rubber grommets. The rest of the job was replacing front fork seals, brake pads, plugs, fluids and paint job on frame and plastics.
