The Cat Came Back

#1 Post by silverstrom » Fri Apr 10, 2015 11:58 pm

Last summer I decided I'd had my fill of the RZ350. It was all I did everyday. I had other projects waiting and decided to move on from the little RZ to other bikes. Then it seemed like I had too many bikes. 9 of them and definitely not enough room for all of them. I sold my Lomas piped 89 RZ350 to a collector. I then sold my RG250 to the same collector. Winter came and I got bored. When I get bored it usually gets expensive. This was delivered to my home during the first week of December. 9 bikes was too many, but 7 was too few, apparently.

Winter progressed, as did my boredom. Then I bought this bike. I sold this to a friend a while back. He didn't touch it. It's still registered in my name. Now I'm back to 9.

Spring finally arrived, but I was still bored. To help solve that problem I brought home bikes 10 and 11.

I have a TZR stripped to its smallest components and undergoing restoration. There is another TZR coming next week for work. I have 2 RZ350 engines to build and one TZR engine. Somewhere I have to find the time to finish the RGV restoration. I have a second RZ500 that needs to be built. I also need to find time to modify the Thruxton.

I started out needing a break from the RZ350. Been there, done that. I managed to get down to just the one 350. I'm not sure why I now have 4. I'm only keeping 1. Not sure what will happen with the others. Build a naked 90 and sell it perhaps. Take the 2 1985s and build one nice bike. Then sell it. Part the other maybe. Maybe I'll get it all done before winter comes around and I get bored again. I hope so. I'll need the space for next winter's boredom.

Hey John, good to see you back. I hope those pics are a few weeks old and the white stuff is gone. Hope you find the the moderation to avoid overload, maybe the Triumph will add variety. Do you still have the V-Strom? First ride of the year will be this afternoon, hope we had enough rain to clean the corners off.

On a separate note, if you have a complete usable '85 main fairing left over mine is pretty rough and I would rather replace it with decent used than spend ages fixing it. No rush, the lowers have been off for years, just keep it in mind.

Thanks guys.

Russ....yes, I still have the VStrom. The only bike I can ride comfortably. I'll see how the parts picture looks shortly. Still have far more than I'll ever need. Plenty to sell. I just sold a nice red/white RZ500/RZ350 upper fairing on Kijiji. Was there for quite a while. Would have been perfect for your bike.

The Triumph will be modified shortly. Already installed Arrow pipes. That rear fender and those ugly signals have to go. Mirrors as well. Don't like the shiny gas cap either. Less is more.
