'81 RD350LC hybrid w/84 RZ engine. Zeel, Old style Toomeys, Yboot and filter 420 main 22.5 pilot, Air screw 2.5 turns out, DJ needle 2nd from top, Canadian VM26 carbs.
'85 KR/RZ US. Tank is seeping causing a blister in paint.....

I reckon he's moved on to pastures new. Some guys come and go like that it seems.

Id love to find a pre-made nice flat gasket for this as I have the rest of the kit to do one. I'm just not a fan of the o-ring cord and super glue plan, but guess i will have to go that way in the end :/

Measure the size you need and buy off the shelf O ring.

Dave, do you think bearing and seal shops are the way to go for o rings? I would have done that route, but Ive just never found them much help unless you have a part number or an example on their counter :/

Measure it up Jon, let me know. Pretty sure we'd (at wk) have vitron o rings for the size "we" need.....lol.

As its not a critical sizing just the ID and cross section of the O ring should get you one.

Or just make a thin metal ring and apply case sealant to both sides. Instant seal and reusable.

Good info guys.

I agree the big or ring doesnt have to be an exact fit, its just lays on the alloy when you do the bolts up. Will have a measure Jase. The bolt o rings are pretty standard I would think. Viton would be the way to go i reckon as you say. Will email you LB. :)

I made one of these clear covers myself. It leaked very little so I plugged the engine's breather pipe to the intake vacuum port that goes to the fuel tap with a T splitter.Since the oil level doesn't reach the gasket when the bike is parked on the sidestand, it worked, but the ultimat solution is to machine an o ring groove on the cover's edge to seal against the side wall instead of the bottom, just like the neutral switch

Well the easiest way to seal it is to just make a paper gasket out of gasket paper & a smear of three bond on each side, the two problem with this is you need to have the cover off to do it so you can clean off any sealant from the inside which squirts out when you do the screws up & it's not easy to remove when the sealant sets. I did this on mine when I first assembled it then when I wanted to remove it to change the clutch springs I went for the 2mm vitron seal method. Both are oil tight & never leaked.

I'd really like to cut a groove in it but dont have access to a big enough lathe, I doubt a dremel and a steady hand would really be good enough LOL

I guess a bead of sealant would even do it if you were stuck, but as Nik says its not ideal going forwards.

Sounds pretty good value to be honest, yeah you can cut your own but at $50 thats an easy fit.
