Fuel and oil lines

#1 Post by pdxjim » Sat Jan 19, 2019 3:04 pm

I know this is a bit of a hot topic here, so no need to debate the merits of clear vs black lines please.

Can someone point me towards a good online source for properly sized CLEAR fuel and oil lines (to fit LC350 and I'm assuming RZ)?

I need 'em all, and help with proper sizes would be much appreciated as well.

Petcock to carbs
Carb choke link pipe
Carb vents

Oil tank to injector pump
Pump to carbs

PS: I really liked the Birel/Freeline fuel line I got here: https://cometkartsales.com/Birel-Freeli ... -Line.html when doing my KH400, so will likely use that from the petcock to carbs. It fits perfect without clamps and is soft and easy on/off even after a year full of fuel.

Kart line is great. At $2.50 that’s pretty good

I was at a dealership yesterday and saw some motionpro line on the counter. I asked how much? $12.50/ft!!! I just about chocked and told the guy he’s f-big nuts!

The OEM RZ fuel line inner diameter is 5.5mm inner Dia and O.D. is about 11mm.
I found some gray 5.3mm on Amazon and that works but I felt it was too tight of a fit and created too much stress on the petcock junction during frequent removal and reinstall.
The 6mm ID lines are very common and they work as long as you have strong hose clips.
The see-through light pink vent hoses common on Jap bikes can be found on ebay or directly from wps http://catalogs.wps-inc.com/2018/street/
These are for the side vents on the carb. The bottom of the bowl is actually slightly larger I.D. I used black hose there.

I bought a bunch of different Fuel lines for my USA model RZ and finally just spent the money to get them all from Yamaha as I wanted it to have the OEM look.

I don't know the sizes off hand (I think it's 1/8" for oil and 1/4" for fuel) but have used Tygon (#4040 yellow) for years for oil lines and it doesn't harden. Most RC shops sell the oil line size for use with nitromethane. Beware that Tygon 2075, commonly used for brake reservoir hose, will fail dramatically in a very short time when use with gas. https://www.kurveygirl.com is a good source.

This looks like a good source for proper clear Tygon fuel line: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/ ... 00tube.php

I figger if it's reliable enough for an airplane, it's good enough for my crappy old motorcycle.

I buy/use Home Depot clear tubings. Pennies a foot :-)
Yes it turns hard with time But.... it lasts ~ a year and then 5 mins and ~ 2$ worth of fresh tubing and it's good for another year.
Tygon is a pain to source , not worth the trouble to me
I replace my lines every spring, it being simple and inexpensive
