1500 cc is what it will take when it is completely empty like after a dissambly/rebuild. When filling after a fluid change, put in a quart/liter then add to full. And don't forget to check the level after a warmup.

So on a oil change there is still almost 16 oz left in the motor.

How exactly do you measure your oil level?

Just sit the stick in the case. Did not thread it in.. put 11/2 quarts in it and took out almost 1/2 quart to get the level correct on the stick

Sounds like you are checking correctly. Mine usually takes a quart bottle plus about 1/4 to 1/3 of a second bottle.

Are you measuring while on the sidestand? If so there's your problem.

if you just pour it in and check it will seem over full. Start it up and let it circulate, then check.

I don't even bother checking anymore. I get it hot, drain well, pour in 1.5L and go. +/- 50ml out of 1500 is not going to make much of a difference.
