Individual Filter Pods - LC

#1 Post by Hooligan » Mon May 04, 2015 1:48 am

Anyone use a set of individual filter pods? I am considering the foam ones without the hard shell as they are supposed to eliminate the issue with pressure waves bouncing back. I'd like to eliminate the airbox cause it is a royal PIA to squeeze the rubbers into place each time I want to get at the carbs.

I have a set of 6mm reed block spacers which really makes it a tight fit to get the carbs in place between the inlet mounts and the airbag rubbers.

Thoughts / suggestions?

For a standard bike most people say the OEM airfiler is best on our motors, only go pods if youve a big cc unit etc :/

My RZ came with a Y boot so I know nothing about the stock airbox but I do know about intake noise. I don't know how long it took me to quit thinking someone was passing me whenever I would accelerate.

I have foam filters on my 4l0 and for this reason I am fitting an airbox to my hybrid as the intake noise is overpowering

I have actually gotten used to it but it would be disconcerting to anyone going from stock.

Don't really care about intake noise. I've had a couple big 4-stroke singles that made a ton of noise through the airbox.

Just want the engine to run reasonably well with no major carburation glitches.

I ran pods on my 4LO for years. Loved them.

None, I would also recommend the F2 power jet carbs with LC jetting. Awesome!

It's been proven.. repeatedly.. that the OEM airbox produces Mo' power than Pods... in anything other than a dedicated Race motor.

And max power is really only relevant on the racetrack. This is a streetbike. A couple HP here or there isn't going to make a difference while trolling through city traffic. If HP was the only thing that mattered to me I'd have a GSXR1000.
