Re: RZ350 sales at MECUM La$ Vega$

Thanks for posting these. Mine are similar to the $19,800 bike with the most basic upgrades - pipes, air cleaner, braided lines. it's a good comp for adjusting insurance values. 2 84 RZ350's sold up my way in the North East on FB market place for $7500 RW and $8000 CY both were better than average c...

Re: Carburator Question

That does look like a powerjet bowl. And it could be possible that someone with a bunch of oddball carbs did a mix and match on something this old.

Re: Carburator Question

I can tell that is not a USA model Yamaha RZ350 Carb.

This is a guess- I think it looks like it could be an oil injection port.

Re: Fox Doubke Clicker shock - Rebuild

Thank you! I called and talked to Ed. He will rebuild the double clicker for $160. Has a connection who can powder coat the spring which is swapped already. Being the fat bastard I am now, Ill likely need a tougher springs than Back in the day of 160lbs. :-) if you stiffen the rear spring you'll wa...

Re: Fork air pressure

Don't lose any sleep over Fork air pressure. Yess it does work adding a palpable difference . But.. and this is the important bit... the pressure will be Gone by next morning, or if lucky; next afternoon.. Tired seals and imprecise (gasp!) machining assures that. Air is a spring in the front suspen...

Re: Motor Doesn't Rev-Up

also look for an air-flow obstruction.
Over-oiled filter, clogged filter, anything that might be obstructing the intake of the airbox.
Try removing the carb over-flow vent tubes.

Re: Stand ...alone suggestion

Problem statement: I need both wheels off the ground sonI can pull the forks and rebuild, fix steering stop on the frame and do the bearings in the tripletree and wheel. At the same time, I want to do the rear wheel, bearing, etc. Tires on both ends. Should I get something like this? Handy because ...

Re: rear wheel stand

Yes Pit Bull with the adjustable brackets. I also have an old universal white one with the L brackets. The name escapes me ATM. I noticed you have a center stand that steadies the bike, keeping the rear wheel stand from slipping forward. That's a nice feature if you have the center stand attached. ...

Re: Any high mileage RZ’s out there ?

I did a tear-down and replaced pistons, rings and seals at close to 9k miles because of age. Everything looked perfect coming apart. I could have just put it back togeter but....if ya got it apart, may as well replace the parts. Most everyone I've talked to seems to think 10k to 15k miles is max top...

Re: Vermont Closes Registration Loophole.

For what it's worth: New Hampshire is still pretty lienient, for NH residents anyway. If the vehicle is older than 1999, you do not need a title to register the vehicle. A bill of sale and a VIN verification form signed by a police officer will do. Once you have it registered in NH, a State outside ...

Re: Transmission oil - like grease?

The 2-stroke RZ engine is generally very similar to your 2-stroke MX bikes. The crank is separated from the gearcase so gas from the carbs should not enter the gearbox. If the float height is wrong, gasoline can flow into the cylinders and fill the crank but it should not get into the gearcase unles...

Re: Changing your own tire

I got an empty 30 gallon oil drum free at a car dealer and used a length of heavy-duty fuel line to cover the rim of the drum so it doesn't scratch the wheel. When the motorcycle wheel rests on the drum the stock rotors fit inside the drum so they don't receive any pressure and don't need to be remo...
