Re: LED Headlight Bulb RZ350
Apart from LED being efficient and all that, I am thinking that LEDs are really no gain for an old bike when it comes to power consumption from the generator or am I wrong? This is what I figure; 1. The generator is a constant output type 2. The regulator simply sends any excess charge to ground to ...

Re: Testing a CDI?
I thought it was the other way around - that the Hall effects were the more current solution to accompany modern digital Ignition control modules. But I have no depth insigth into this subject other the very few bikes I have repaired lately.

Re: Testing a CDI?
I have also played with the idea of replacing the pick up coil with a Hall-effect sensor. In theory it should be possible and I learnt that the voltage of the signal will be constant and independant of rpm, but is there really any noticeable gain from that?

Re: Testing a CDI?
I am thinking about a bench test setup. It should be doable. Supply 50vac and a signal to mimic the pick-up etc.

Re: Testing a CDI?
By the way, do we know what ac voltage the 2 ignition source coils puts out?

Re: Testing a CDI?
There are some companies that tests and repairs CDIs. It may be worth it only if you really need one or if they and/or if such a service can be found locally to get around shipping it back and forth vs the price of a new one.

Re: How to remove flywheel - 1990 350 F2 2UA
This season I started by removing my flywheel for a stator inspection (after a rewind last year). I used an electric wrench to shock the puller bolt and it popped loose instantly. It does however seem to take some considerable force to loosen these even at ideal conditions. Note, I did not apply any...

Re: '85 YPVS Stator/Rotor questions
If your stator/rotor comnination is good then Zeel doesn't care as long as you meet the requirements ofthr actualbunit you got and you didn't say which. As far as I know there is DC version that runs off the 12V and an AC version running off your ignition spools in the stator just like oem cdi does....

Re: Bearing diameters
Would be interesting if someone could actually measure the radial play in the Yam crank bearings to correctly classify it to the Bearing world's "C" rating scale for later reference and if yam stop delivering these. According to the weblink, higher C rating means more play and allows for m...

Re: Bearing diameters
Hi Using various online bearing search tools, looking up any bearing is not that hard considering the codes: Ie an outer lock ring groove bearing would be designated with an "N" in the code following the bearing number. Exampel 6305 N looks very close to the example 25x62x17, and even the ...

Re: OEM Bearing List - Full yam - to- industry part nr/spec
Reading this I could't help thinking; - How about creating an online resource that looks up yam part nr and matches it to user contributed industrial standard products, all in an effort to keep the old dogs running in the future and at affordable prices. This could cover bearings, o-rings, seals, bo...

Re: Do I use both exhaust gasket types? YPVS F2
@Nokturnal Yes the joiner pipe flange does actually fit inside the cylinder cutout where the copper ring sits. But as you say it would not be a good idea to try. However, the pipes may have been delivered with some sort of special seal back then but I have no clue if anything is missing. And since i...

Re: Do I use both exhaust gasket types? YPVS F2
Here are some photos to further illustrate the problem with the Figarolis; The face of the flange is just flat and does not center nor seal properly as it is simply pressed against the inner half of the copper ring. (smaller diameter) eksos 2.jpg The retainer ring is pressing on a distance piece, ma...

Re: Do I use both exhaust gasket types? YPVS F2
After investigating a little closer, the flange of the Figarolis does not allow the use of the gasket pos 10 at all. The hole flange/spigot arrangement is very poor and hard to make a good seal and difficult to fit correctly centred etc. I thus wonder if there is another pipe brand's flange/spigots ...
