Re: What are the contents of the factory 1984 US RZ350 tool
You are speaking about the band with the metal loops at the end. I am referring to the endless loop in my pic.

Re: RZ 350 jetting recommendations for Spec II pipe
I'm just above sea level living just outside Washington, DC. My 1984 US bike has some vintage of Spec II pipes on it, but I don't know which ones. A pic of my bike is linked below, so perhaps you can see if your pipes match mine. https://www.dropbox.com/home/Public/RZ350?preview=RZ350+left+side.jpg ...

Re: What are the contents of the factory 1984 US RZ350 tool
Thanks for the pics. I bought a set of tools from forum member "Bald_Anthony". He contacted me prior to you posting your pics above and figured they were the most complete set available for sale and true to his words they were. He even had the original bag and it matches the one you have p...

Those are some of the ones I was looking for. Remember, I'd trying to replicate the original part for part.

What are the contents of the factory 1984 US RZ350 tool kit?
I've got my restoration down mechanically. Yesterday, I finally got my seat lock to match my keys. Next I want to tackle the tool kit. My bike is missing the OEM tool kit. They are hard to find, but I might be able to piece one together from other Yamaha vintage tool kits from the same era. This is ...

Re: question regarding RZ350 locks/keys
I found an "A" seat lock on EBay. It's pretty easy to take apart. Just take off the three screws on the back cover of the lock with the cover side up and carefully note where everything is for later reassembly. The only tricky thing is the retaining wafer. You can access that from the back...

Re: question regarding RZ350 locks/keys
If you have an original key that fits a given slot (even if it's not the particular key for that lock), the key code is on the key. The first letter of that code is the key/cylinder type.

Re: question regarding RZ350 locks/keys
A and B are the easiest to discern and are mirror images of each other. C and E are similar as are D and F and may be harder to tell apart.

Re: question regarding RZ350 locks/keys
Jon, we are both helping others with our comments. I was just further clarifying what the issue is as it is a subtle difference and your pic better shows the issue.

Re: question regarding RZ350 locks/keys
That is my issue, i.e. the keyway is not the same which is why I posted for a type "A" lock cylinder in the "Want to Buy" forum. The keyway in my helmet lock is for an "C" or "E" type key.

Re: question regarding RZ350 locks/keys
That was my plan assuming they are supposed to be all keyed to a single key. I bought the "project" bike off someone else, so I don't know the history of all the parts. I'll need to source an "A" key code helmet lock cylinder.

question regarding RZ350 locks/keys
I have a US 1984 RZ350 whose restoration is down to the little details. My key works in the ignition lock cylinder and the gas cap lock cylinder, but not in the helmet lock cylinder. Looking at the keyway, the helmet lock cylinder is that of another key code. Did the bikes originally have all three ...

Re: Down to nits on 1984 RZ350 restoration
The power band softness at low RPM when rolling into a slow corner (e.g. intersection) took some getting used to. You definitely have to manage momentum on this bike. It think it will make me a more focused rider as it’s easy to get sloppy when you can use the throttle (as on my bigger 4-strokes) to...
