Re: Well, it finally happened to me - engine meltdown :(

Crank seals have lips that fit to the upper and lower cases. Seals first, then close the cases. Make certain you grease the seals as the book says. If you don't you'll damage the sealing surface quickly. And be sure to install the crank seals facing the right way. Many have installed the right seal...

Re: Hitting The Apex movie.

I saw the post on the 500 side and got it right away. Superb documentary of recent MotoGP seasons and if the sections on Simoncelli don't choke you up you aren't human. Agreed. It was like a repeat of Senna in that it seemed the whole country morned for him, it was a hell of a crash for all involve...

Re: Premix F$#! up

Cheers all for your help, as i turns out my gas can was only 1 Gal. so i'm running closer to 40:1 with this tank. I'm gonna pick up a 5 gallon can which if i add one 16oz bottle of Red Line to should work out at 60:1 according to a handy calculator i found online here http://www.at-speed.com/old_ver...

Re: Premix F$#! up

KTM manual recommends Motorex at 60:1, Red Line recommends anything from 50:1-100:1 I'll stick with 50:1 which means i drain half the tank.

Thanks for the advice guys! Off for a walk to the gas station.

Premix F$#! up

Just got my KTM 300 and messed up the premix ratio [smilie=ops.gif] . It has an aftermarket Acerbis gas tank so i called to find out it's capacity, i was told 6.6 gallons. I calculated the ratio at 60:1 which is 14oz of oil, i put the full 16oz bottle of Red Line in the tank and was surprised to fin...

Re: Not sure where to put this - Suzuki TS185 any good?

Just found some dyno results for the 300 EXC. http://s1.postimg.org/wq855svkb/Screen_Shot_2015_09_28_at_5_25_08_PM.jpg Looks like a wild thing, although it's interesting to see the 250 had more torque and it's developed lower down, i got the impression that it was the torque that made people move up...

Re: Not sure where to put this - Suzuki TS185 any good?

Ha! So glad to have your approval, if i'm crazy at least i'm not the only one lol. I almost bought a XT500 non running but all original but i was put off by the complexity of it as a project and needed something i could hop on and ride to work, also since i don't have a garage i just couldn't do it,...

Ok, i think i'm letting my heart lead my head here but since i saw a 2005 KTM exc 300 2T STREET LEGAL! For sale all lesser bikes (basically all of them) have ceased to interest me. It's in good condition, well maintained & adult owned, 2 owners with low hours $2500. http://images.psndealer.com/d...

Re: Not sure where to put this - Suzuki TS185 any good?

Well it's a looker but it has had the tank resprayed in the wrong metallic blue which didn't match the fenders and at $1800 i didn't feel comfortable with it. Took it for a spin, twice, 'cause y'know i wasn't sure if i missed something. Let's put it this way, I now know how special my RZ is, of cour...

Re: PV's - Do i have to remove the cylinders

Find you some small same size stainless hex head screws too to replace those JIS heads as you'll be able to tighten and loosen those couplers more efficiently. Yep, they are fiddley bastards, after 1/2hour i took grinder to the allen key to make it shorter which helped a little. I'll see if i can p...
