Re: New member saying hello,

I've thought about this for a couple of days and I have an '84 that I can no longer ride. But, it's probably not what you're looking for. About the only qualifier is distance. First it's r/w/b and not a restoration candidate. But it's titled and licensed in Florida and it runs. Interested?

Re: wheel swap?

I have a problem with tubes, flat tires. 3 on my RD400, 0 on my RZ.

Re: Drag Bike - Plan B

I would pull the cylinders and check the rod clearance. You're going to have to do a pressure/vacuum test anyway. Old motocross idiom, they always run best just before they blow.

Funny thing about luck, the more you practice, the luckier you get.

Re: wheel swap?

The RD wheels need tube type tires and are not particularly light.

Did you get it? $10500 was a good price.

Re: Primary gear

Sad to say but parts pullers are not mechanics. The engineers saw fit to include the spec in the service manual and have the numbers etched on the individual gears. I don't personally have experience with this but Silverstrom does and has said before, follow the spec.

Re: 76 RD400

It was a pretty bike and I put 22K miles on one just like it but that was a lot of money.

Re: Shipping from US to AU- what is up?

I knew I should have looked up the details before I posted. I just assumed it was a container shipper when it was a mail forwarding service. He still had to pay extra import tax so it may not have been the bargain I remembered.

Re: Shipping from US to AU- what is up?

I shipped some items to a guy in New Zealand earlier in the year. He has set up an arrangement with a container shipper in Oregon and the cost was quite reasonable. I don't have the details but I could find out

Re: Lost key

I think you will find the number on top of the lock, take it off the triple clamp. Any competent locksmith should be able to make a key with that number.

Re: Drag Bike - Plan B

I don't see a new crankshaft gear in the pile. Does the new clutch gear match the old number?
