I have found that when the zinc plating I had redone if left sitting starts to mark up.
I now wash everything in petrol and blow it clean when it come back from
the Platers, and that has had great results.
Maybe it wasn't washed properly at the Platers but this is now my standard practise.

Re: RD350LC Touring Bike
Back in 1982 a buddy of mine and I rode from the East Coast of Australia(me from Sydney and mate Don from Melbourne) to Perth West Australia over a Christmas break three week period. I was on a Suzuki gsx1100 and Don on a Kawasaki GT750. When we were coming up the coast of South Australia(Mount Gamb...

Re: RZ350 - Blue Spot - R1 discs.
I have a set of Norm's calliper adapters, Blue Spots with early R1 discs on my rd350lc, this bike has later model rz350ypvs wheels fitted. I'm using a Mikes XS 1/2" master cylinder on that and it's got a good feel and works well. I also have upgraded my 1989 model FJ1200 to Blue Spots and the s...

Re: 1981 350LC carb needles where to get them?
There was a post on the LC Crazy forum that there was a place in the UK that could supply
genuine 5K1 needles and had something like 46 in stock.
I'll have a look and see who they were.

Re: rebuilding an exhaust
I have cleaned up rd400 headers that were at least as bad as that before getting them re-chromed.
I used various grades of emery cloth(by hand) and it took a while but it worked well.

Re: Stock clutch is on its last legs
Does your clutch basket have grooves in it?
The plates settle into these and you need a smooth surface on those faces.
Otherwise all the other remedies won't fix anything.

Re: Advice - carbs & two into one filter
On stock size carbs, Y boot off aircooled Yamaha rd350 fit.
You can use the same tall K+N type filter(as they do in the aircooled) if you run a custom battery box.
I also didn't have an oil pump so that oil reservoir wasn't there either.
It makes jetting changes very simple!

Re: Top end
I go to the Babbitt's parts fiche and get the part numbers and if there is a price along side it's generally available. Some of the stuff I've bought(fj1100/1200) is cheaper here than list prices in the USA? But that crankshaft price is what I got quoted. Our Yamaha parts guy(switched on guy) says t...
Re: Top end
The same genuine Yamaha crank here(Australia) is $1350 Aust !!!
So for $400 US is an absolute bargain.................

Re: PWK vacuum take off for tank tap.
Is there not a mod where you can turn the tap into a "on-off" manual tap and do away with the vacuum port?
I'm sure I've seen it on one of the forums.

Re: RZ Frame modified MOTO3 project
The Orbital fuel injection system and Prof Blair are not connected(to my knowledge). There were a few very smart ex-Queens University Mechanical engineers working at Orbital though. The system was originally developed on the original "Orbital" engine and then applied to two strokes. A dire...
