Re: Easiest Rear rear shock replacement?

I run a cbr f4i rear shock. Some people complain that it's too hard but I have no issues. Good bang for buck. Fitment is just different bushes & clamping the remote res to the frame. No cutting or permanent changes. I really like the idea of this for my `87, as I don't want to change anything o...

Re: Spring is coming ... who's excited to get out and ride?

Finally finished up my finals this week, but I'm still waiting on a couple of parts to reassemble the front end on the 87. I'd really hoped to have the chance to finish it up this weekend given that we were in the 80's today. Stormy weather is supposed to hit us hard this coming week (they're talkin...

Re: Easiest Rear rear shock replacement?

Of the two shock conversions, does one have any damping or load advantages over the other? All other things being equal, I would think not having to modify anything in a way it can't be readily reversed is well worth the $10 difference in price( if the performance is comparable).

Sweet bike, John! Very nicely done- it is gorgeous and I don't tend to like black bikes!

Re: insurance?

I dont know if Progressive writes policies in Canada or not. It costs me 100 for the first bike & 25.00 each thereafter. Yep, this is my second year with them after having the Rider plan for ages (since `91 or so) and they dropped the premium to $106 total for both bikes (the `85 and `87 RZs). ...

Re: Spring is coming ... who's excited to get out and ride?

Working towards getting things fired up again for spring/summer again here; just waiting on a few parts to get back on the road. I'm hoping that I'll have them in hand and installed before the good riding weather arrives, as right now it has been as unpredictable as that meme!

Re: CMS NL for OEM parts?

Yep, that's the one... I had no success with my attempt at modifying an FZ unit for the bike, but to be fair it was an experiment on my part. I shouldn't have been trying to match the odo up on the darned thing. You know better than I what parts will fit the `87; guess I should go ahead and leave it...

Re: CMS NL for OEM parts?

Don, you can go to the CMS site and search by part number. Many parts are available even though they aren't listed in the main lists, which only go to 85. If it comes up as available doing a part number search you'll know Yamaha here will carry it or can get it. You can PM or email me any time and ...

Re: CMS NL for OEM parts?

Thanks for the part book info... unfortunately, my quick searches of a few of the numbers on the 1WT diagram all show up with no part found. I'm guessing that may well be accurate, given the age of the parts. Anyone got a preferred Canadian supplier I can cross-check against?

Re: Importing a bike from Canada to the USA

Dealing with the paperwork is a P.I.T.A., but nothing that you should let stop you if the bike is what you want. John was most helpful with getting the `87 RZ350 prepped and shipped down here to me & I dealt directly with customs at the local port in Huntsville/Madison. The biggest pain in that ...

Re: End of The 2T Season

Almost April now & I'm working towards getting a bike road-ready again. I need a new battery thanks to my own negligence (forgot it on the charger for a little too long & boiled it dry), can't seem to bring it back to life this time around. I'd considered getting one of those glassmat batter...
