Re: Elsie goes for $12,000?

Seems like a lot of $$ but it's $12,000 Cdn. About $8800 US at current rates.

Prices are climbing here in Canada, just like they are everywhere else, but it's still cheaper than the US.

Re: RZ Tool kit contents ????

Early kits didn't have the special shock spanner due to the adjuster being accessed just below the seat using the mostly useless rubber belt. but other than that they are the same for all model years. I've put together dozens of kits over the years.

Very good question. USA 85 quite a different bike to ROW.

US bikes use the same flywheel, stator and CDI that other markets use for corresponding model years.

Re: Rear wheel spacer or collar

Kind of hate for you to toss the lithium battery as it probably just needs a proper charge. FWIW, it will run fine without a battery but the power valves won't cycle at key on. good luck. There are warnings in the manuals about burning out diodes in the stator if you run the engine without a batter...

Re: Body work

The Chinese bodywork is compression molded, so there will be variances due to the process. It's not exactly precise, but it isn't awful. You can still find genuine Yamaha bodywork if you look in the right places. It all depends on what you want. A proper factory correct restoration, or a bike to hav...

Re: RZ350 Super Motard

It has been unusually quiet on both sides of the forum. The 500 forum is a ghost town. Not even the crickets are showing up. I'm blaming COVID burnout. It was busy over the past several years, but now that life has returned to some semblance of normal people are moving on to other things. They'll be...

Re: Rear wheel spacer or collar

If I understand what you are saying, you're thinking the tube and the bit you call the "hat or dust shield" attached to it are one assembly and you are missing a spacer? I think you may be misunderstanding the assembly. The part you call the hat or dust shield is the spacer. They are actua...

Re: Missmatched key accessories

If you have a good ignition switch and key it's easy to re-key the other locks. They come apart easily and you then move the tumblers around, or remove some as necessary, until your key works in that lock. Takes just a few minutes to do it.

Definitely not a rookie ken. You've done far more than most of us will ever accomplish. I'm always inspired when I see your work.

Watching Framemaker at work is very impressive. From concept to final product he makes it look effortless. Certainly one of the greats.

Re: RZ350 adjustable power valve contoller

Nick installs a series of dip switches. By moving the switches to specific positions you control the opening RPM of the power-valves. This means that from a 100% stock engine to a highly modified engine, you have control over the valves and you select the range that works best for you. He did one fo...

Re: 85 USA RZ Engine Rebuild

Silverstrom, Thanks for the tip on Pete's Superbike. Their prices are very aggressive and the exchange rate on the USD is very favorable coming to the US. I contacted Pete's, and confirmed they do ship UPS to the US with minimal cross border issues, thanks to NAFTA. Thanks again for the tip. :smt02...

Re: 85 USA RZ Engine Rebuild

Avon AM26 are also a good option. I have them on a few bikes here, including an RZ350 and RZ500. I buy from Petessuperbike.com They have a great selection available and great pricing. I've never found a better price for tires. They're in Canada and offer free shipping here. Usually 2 days to my door...

Re: FYI Airtech is " out of Business"

For Canadians looking to buy from Skidmarx in the UK the shipping may be quite expensive. I contacted Skidmarx for my RG250 set, who then told me they didn't ship to Canada. They said I would have to buy from their US distributer in Florida, USA. I looked into that and the way it would have worked w...
