Re: YPVS Power valves... Sources
Last time I rebuilt my engine I didn't fancy spending a bundle on new valves and bushings so I used some SKF Speedi-Sleeves (SKF P/N 99068) to repair the bearing section of my worst set of PV's, and reamed the bushings to suit. The portion where the seal runs generally doesn't wear much, and I've go...

Re: VJ22 Banana swingarm
The Tuning Works is a good place to find OEM parts and some aftermarket stuff, https://www.thetuningworks.co.uk The RGV Forum is a good resource with a for sale board, that's where I got my swingarm, http://www.rgv250.co.uk/forums/ I bought CNC axle pullers from someone on the RGV forum to replace t...

Re: VJ22 Banana swingarm
Ruzty, do you recall how long your Penske shock is eye to eye? I just measured it, 315mm center to center and it's in the middle of roughly 10mm total adjustment. I set it so the minimum length still allows it to clear the frame cross member when bottomed and then used the adjustment to get the rid...

Re: VJ22 Banana swingarm
Superb advice as ever. Lovely bike. Thanks Jon! I haven't been around much in the last year, nice to see some familiar names, I hope you are well. The RZ is going to get some attention again, I got side tracked with a VFR800 I bought last year (wonderful bike). Of course it's getting modified too a...

Re: Matte black powder coating
I have had good luck with satin black on wheels, on bikes and cars. I'm looking at Cerakote for another project, apparently it's extremely durable, the gun crowd love it. Comes in oven and room temp cure versions, all kinds of colours too.

Re: Frame bracing
Racing slicks and about double the power of a tuned RZ350, tell me the frame doesn't look familiar; https://classic-motorbikes.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Yamaha-TZ750E007.jpg It probably uses better tubing than a production bike, but I doubt that frame is any way near twice as stiff as an RZ fra...

Re: Earlier Model R6 Rotor
This was one of the best modifications I did to my 350 before the suspension upgrade.silverstrom wrote: ↑Mon Aug 24, 2020 5:39 pm If you don't want to use the caliper adapters you can use Triumph 83 mm calipers (4 piston) and any rotor that fits an RZ350 from EBC, etc.

Re: RZ Project III or is it IV?
I'm running a 150 on a 4" wheel and it's plenty of tire for an RZ350. No offset sprocket and machined cush drive and the chain clears the tire by a few mm.

Re: Moto-GP crash is UNBELIEVABLE
Yeah, when Rossi stopped his bike in the pits, his body language and then his expression when he took his helmet off said he'd seen his own ghost. Rossi has pretty much averaged 10 podiums a year for TWO DECADES, but I think that was a new experience for him.

Amazing what the fundamental architecture of this little engine will do, even if there isn't a stock part left besides the transmission.

Re: Tuning 1983 Canadian 26mm carbs
With stock carbs on my '85 Canadian bike (same 31k engine as yours) with SpecII pipes and stock airbox (UNI filter, snorkel removed) I arrived at stock pilots and 265 mains as a good setup. A little rich on hot days but plug chops on cold mornings had it just about perfect, piece of mind for all rid...

Re: wierd issue with a buddys monkey bike
I have never tried this so take it as free advice worth nothing, but I have heard this from people who have bought old bikes with engines with stuck rings that wouldn't turn. Put a SMALL amount (say an ounce) of ATF (detergent) or even diesel in the spark plug hole and let sit for a day or more, wou...
