Re: 85 USA RZ Engine Rebuild
Nice machine. It is very satisfying taking something apart, using various methods, throwing a pile of cash at it and after reassembly, setting back and enjoying your efforts? It is to me, even if it never gets ridden (other machines, not my RZ's). Be wary of ordering online. Just because the site sa...

Steering Dampner Install 101
Gents, Was going through a box of RZ parts and I came across this forgotten stash. https://i.postimg.cc/QtbwfyHB/RZ-Steering-Dampners.jpg I was wondering if someone could post a pic of your install? I am not 100% that these are/were RZ mounts. Maybe I am trying to make something out of nothing? Are ...

2s Formulation Change?
Noticed where Yamaha has changed the look if the 2s & 2r oils. They have also added the word "smokeless" to the 2s oil.
Question is, has the recipe changed? Inquiring minds want to know!
My gut says no....

Re: Drag Bike - Plan B
Been reading your trial & tribulations at the drag strip for some time now. Your writing style and the use of the RZ350 keep me coming back! I have raced motocross for the past 45 years. We also have a drag race. To the first turn. And your right, this usually determines the outcome of the race....

I cannot help you out, as I am not familiar with the breed, but you would have better luck asking at the link down below, as this forum is RZ/RD water cooled specific.

Re: Whymee's #1 & #2 Restore
Eddie was not around. Left a message asking about the differences between the JJH & the AOO needles. Without outside assistance I have to start somewhere. Jetting I usually start low & work my way up. Against my gut feeling, I threw in a 45 to replace the 42. My reasoning, better safe than s...

Re: Whymee's #1 & #2 Restore
I woke up this morning and thought, today is the day to get the Toomey motored machine started. The motor work was done by ED Toomey of ET Designs sometime in the last quarter of 2019. This consists of: Level 2 Cylinder Porting & match power valves to exhaust port Level 2 Cylinder head mods Leve...

Re: Whymee's #1 & #2 Restore
Just got back from a 75 miler. Rode it to where I work (today was my day off). Figured if I had to wrench on it, that would be as good as any place. It has been several years since I put any miles on a RZ. I forgot how smooth the motor is. Light and flickable. I fell in love all over again! I have s...

Re: Whymee's #1 & #2 Restore
So I read about taking the cap off without a key. I pried the silver cap off the top, but did not see the snap ring (or any ring) to remove to get the key set out. So I proceeded to the shade tree way of removing the cap. Drill all the way around the key set and pry. That worked. I have a couple ext...

Re: Whymee's #1 & #2 Restore
Well it has been a couple years since I fiddled with the R/W/B RZ. I did remember the last time I rode it for any distance (2 mi.) that the clutch felt odd and slipped a tad. I decided a couple weeks ago to tackle the clutch and an oil leak on the left side. :smt026 My oil leak was coming from the n...
