RZV500R Ireland

#1 Post by PJ » Wed Nov 25, 2009 9:27 pm

Hi All,

I have recently purchased a RZV500R form Japan and I need to get replacement fairings (the full set) I also need to get them painted including the tank.....Can anybody advise on what fairings are best and a rough idea as to the cost for fairings and painting.
Sorry if I am going over old ground.

Regards & Thanks
PJ

Hi PJ,
Is the bodywork that came with the bike beyond restoration?
or did the bike come to you minus body work ?
There's a really good painter/body-repair guy in the North, "Paint-Box", (the guy is called Davy Williamson). I have had several bikes painted in original colours to a very high standard by him, (better than new  ).
He has the bodywork of my RZV500R at the moment. He will paint in the stripes or use decals, whichever you fancy.
They also do very good repair work via plastic-welding, some of the stuff he has re-claimed for me looked fit for the bin when I gave it to him and he sorted it like brand new
If you use the search function on the site, (put in replica fairings or replica bodywork?), and you will find there are a lot of suggestions as to where to obtain new pattern fairings.
De-restricting the RZV isn't a massive job. New pipes and carb kits release a lot more power! after that, it's a matter of where you want to stop. You'll find plenty of info on the site if you search for it :supz:
Where abouts are you in the South?
The older I get, the faster I was!

I got a set of jolly motos from PJ Engineering for about £1200; but that was a few years ago.

I love the Jim Lomas pipes and they where cheaper than the Jolly Motos and excellent quality - lots of options also, stainless or mild steel aluminum or carbon silencers, standard or GP style etc.

Not sure where to get them your way, but here is a link with pics and US prices
