It's clear now that all you are here for is to argue. Why be here if you have nothing positive to offer? You never post anything that is helpful.

Once again George, stock Yamaha pistons only come in two over-bore sizes. 0.50 mm O/S max. If you need more that the 2nd oversize you need to go aftermarket. Wiseco is a good choice for most people because they have the common sense to understand the difference between cast and forged pistons. Some people that don't understand the properties of forged pistons go around telling people Wiseco pistons are a bad choice, but only because they can't understand the basic differences between cast and forged pistons, no matter how many times it is explained to them.

well John
I see that you like to continue with this thread where you again you accuse me of not contributing anything to this forum. Are liners available for the RZ500 cylinders. I need to ask you since you are very knowledgeable on the RZ500. You can enlighten us with such knowledge. You are the one that enlighten us with an alternative with Yamaha OEM pistons. Now as far as myself not contributing anything on this forum. I manage for you to admit an alternative to Wiseco pistons that are not required for special starting procedures. The next thing their was a post on removing an RZ500 tanks with gasoline in it and causing a leak. I posted the alternative a TZR250 3MA petcock that would bolt to the tank and it has the same hoses as the RZ500 petcocks. Yes a small alteration may be required on the small aluminum plate. I'm sure everyone in this forum appreciates me in extracting knowledge from you

I’m a member of this forum since it’s started. Now if John has an opinion since he knows so much. I like to hear it with the different options. The same way he feels that Wiseco pistons are the greatest and can walk on water. I have the right to post they are junk. As you read before OEM pistons are more expensive but no need for special starting procedures.. if you have something constructive to say I like to hear it without the threats or insults.
I obviously have posted here constructive information if you go back at the start of this forum. All it takes some time in doing your homework

Drawing a parallel between the choice of forged and cast pistons and claiming one as universally superior would be akin to asserting that one motorcycle model, such as the RG, is inherently better than another, like the RD. In both cases, the optimal selection hinges on the intended purpose, performance demands, and overall objectives, emphasizing the need for a nuanced evaluation rather than a blanket preference. This is another universal truth...

Well said Mike, and the point Tacky1 and I were trying to make. It's subjective to the intended purpose, but by no means are forged pistons to be avoided based on biased opinions by those who have never used them, or who have and been reckless with their use.

I am no stranger to motorcycle maintenance and tuning,
Asking again if you can post some pics of this bike/parts. You know, the kind of pics taken by an actual human. Thanks. :smt023

"Get back to the burning question"
There's a good thread from oct 9, 2006, called "TSI porting" with some comparative dyno charts from rztom, and references to others.
You might also search for dyno and pipe comparisons - jollies raise peak power to 10600 if I remember correctly, so if you have the carbs & cleaners to feed that, 100 (or close enough/feels like) doesn't seem too hard to achieve.
That's assuming 88 stock, and getting about a 12% increase.

I recently had the privilege of engaging in a compelling conversation with Bill Wilson. The discussion, spanning over an hour, left a profound impression on me as he emerged as a remarkably humble and exceptionally knowledgeable individual. Throughout our dialogue, he generously shared a plethora of experiences, regaled me with some genuinely amusing anecdotes, and, with utmost consideration, conveyed that the timeline I had envisioned for my engine project might not be feasible. Disappointing as this revelation was, Mr. Wilson's forthrightness about aiming to deliver completed engines by 2025 provided valuable clarity. Despite the adjusted timeline, I find his candor and expertise to be invaluable, and I look forward to exploring potential alternatives for my project with his guidance.

Interestingly, but not unexpectedly given his character, Mr. Wilson suggested that I reach out to Andrew Jones of ATR. He spoke highly of Mr. Jones, emphasizing their relationship that spans several years. The recommendation struck a chord with me, given the invaluable insights Mr. Wilson shared during our extensive conversation. It appears that seeking assistance from ATR for the next phase of my project is a natural progression, supported by the glowing commendations and long-established professional rapport between these two experts.

My next call will be to Andrew Jones of ATR.

Looks like it was piped when you got it. What kind of pipes are they? Jolly Moto's perhaps?

Hello Jeff,

You're absolutely right, Sir! I fitted those pipes approximately nine years ago. However, don't let the image deceive you. While they may appear pristine in the photos, the reality is vastly different. The relentless battle against surface rust has proven to be quite the challenge. After much deliberation, I've reluctantly come to the decision to have them ceramic coated as part of this ongoing build. It pains me to think about losing the visual charm of those exquisite welds that truly make these pipes a work of art. Yet, the persistent onslaught of surface rust has taken a toll on their overall appearance, and I believe the ceramic coating is a necessary evil to preserve their integrity.
It truly breaks my heart, but it needs to be done.
