Hi guys just wondering when the oil light goes on do you have to stop riding or can you keep riding to get home and roughly what range will you have. The bike is a rz500.
Thanks in advance.

Keep riding until home unless you have a 500 or more miles to cover

Re: Oil light
Oil Tanks
Main Tank 1.7ltr
Sub Tank 0.3ltr
So 2ltr in total
Don't know when the oil light comes on from full though

Re: Oil light
The problem with the low oil light is that when it comes on it may already be too late. The oil level gauge assembly works by having the internal float drop to the bottom and grounding the circuit and turning on the oil light when the oil level drops below the very bottom of the oil level gauge assembly. The problem with that is if there is any oil (or crud) that remains trapped in the oil level gauge assembly the light will not come on and you'll keep riding until it all goes horribly wrong. I've seen it many times. Not long ago it was as 87RZ350 where the oil light came on immediately followed by seizing a piston.
Think of the gauge as being handy, but not really useful, much like the idiot light in a vehicle. When the oil idiot light comes on, it's already too late.
Keep your oil tank full. Fill after every ride and never worry about the oil light. Certainly NEVER trust the oil light. Doing so can be expensive.

Re: Oil light
Remember that the RZV500 does not have the sub tank, so you only have what's in the main tank.V4 Stroker wrote: ↑Sat Sep 02, 2023 4:12 am Oil Tanks

Mine does

Thought they all 500's came with them so bought one. Then found out after a few months of ownership that they didn't use it on the JDM models to save weight.
