It is pricey for a 400 here. Not really much demand for the poor cousin to the 500. Then there are the parts issues. Try finding pistons or head gaskets.

I believe Andy was having them made because there were no sources, but that was last year. The head gasket is still a problem. Suzuki has superseded the RG400 part number with the RG500 part number. The bores are quite different sizes, so that presents an obvious problem.

I was going to see if wiseco would modify their rm100/lt80 pistons to work in the rg400. I think they would. I tried both tkrj and cruzin image pistons. They both broke on the rears. Turns out my fault. I leaned on this engine hard. Lots of porting, higher and wider. Cranks turn backwards. Rear cranks were trying to drive pistons out exhaust port. And occasionally did. The new engine now has stock porting. I suspect the tkrj pistons will now be fine. The cruzin image pistons are made slightly wrong. Full bore size but rings made at piston size so end gap is like .022 thou. But didn't seem to hurt power. I solved head gasket problem. Tops of cyls are CNC'd for Orings. Works a treat on both rg400 and rgv500. Have done a rz500 engine and waiting for testing. Hoping it works just as good. Now considering moving the 400 racer. I have lost my desire to race. Short story - I got voted out of my class because the race org said I was too talented, fast, and skilled (on a different bike BTW) I now must race against 1982/83 1100 cc bikes on my 1982 750 cc bike. Track days with an older R6 sound more appealing. More track time, more fun, less stress, less whining.
