180 rear tire with 3xv swinger?
Morning, hey just curious if anyone has fit a 180 and 5.5 rear wheel in a 3xv swingarm? My curiousity if getting to me on my ysr replica. It's a 3ma frame with 3xv swinger. was planning to stick to a 4.5 with a 150 rear but was curious to hear from anyone that has done it.
Re: 180 rear tire with 3xv swinger?
Yep, have done exactly that. Used a R6 fitment 5.5” carbon BST wheel with 180 rear tyre. Had to slim down the cush drive a little, but it does fit.
Re: 180 rear tire with 3xv swinger?
its easier if you use an R6 swingarm 2007 with its wheel

Re: 180 rear tire with 3xv swinger?
Steveho, do you think it is worthwhile fitting that much rubber? With the cf im sure you still have lower weight, but do you notice slower steering? I know its a tricky question, with a different swingarm, maybe ride height and fork angle altered as well - but aside from looking great, do you think there is a benefit to that much tire?
Re: 180 rear tire with 3xv swinger?
Mine's a YZR rep, so the wide rubber is part of the look. The build is still in progress, so haven't ridden it yet. However, it's got a 3MA frame, so 1 degree less rake than stock RD500, raised rear and 60 profile front tyre means it should turn quick enough...

Re: 180 rear tire with 3xv swinger?
If you use a 5.5 tire the 180 is fine. I have a 2006 R6 swingarm. Get the 60 profile and it will raise the back 10 MM if you use a Pirelli SC2 slick. The 60 profile was the final piece of the puzzle on my track bike. Both tires wear eqaully now. There are other things done such as shock and fork work. If it is show only heck with it.

Thanks everyone for the input! So i know RGVSteve used to do r6 swingers stateside for the 3ma frame. Is there anyone stateside that can do this now?

And the other question, the frame is setup for a 3xv shock and pivot, i'm probably going to have to change that with a r6 swinger correct?
