Gaskets

#1 Post by Zihuamark » Thu Nov 19, 2020 12:36 pm

Have started my engine rebuild and was wondering where I should be looking for a new front left cylinder? Also any feedback on the Forseti gasket kits I see online? Can’t seem to locate gaskets for the lower cylinders. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers

Use Yamaha gaskets unless money is very, very tight; even then, you must use Yamaha head gaskets. Aftermarket head gaskets are well known for failing quickly, and that comes with the risk of expensive damage.

Lower base gaskets are available from Yamaha. I would recommend all Yamaha gaskets. The little you save isn't worth the risk. https://www.cmsnl.com/yamaha-rd500lc-19 ... 7bItW5FyUk

I may have a front cylinder here. What bore size are you looking for, and where are you. If you are overseas you may prefer to shop locally.

Just be careful with Yambits and know what you are getting. They sell a lot of junk. I have a box collected over the years.

Megazip is Japan based.
There is also a company called Impex out of Japan that I have just made an order with for some RGV parts....
Even better prices, but not sure how well the process will work till I see the parts in my hands.
