BARBER MOTORSPORTS with RZV 500 and TZ 250

#1 Post by rz500guytexas » Wed Sep 30, 2020 9:09 pm

A few images from recent track day. Max Flinders who rides in Moto Americas Superbike class took the 500 out in a session. I am in the white and red Bell helmet. https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=rx-JRDTR4sU
I asked him to ride it like any race bike and give me his honest opinion on any changes. He is a little heavier than me and he rode in the advanced group with a lot of fast bikes and riders . His only suggestion was install a steering damper. Max said bike was rock solid and steady everywhere. Pirelli tires are the best. Brakes were great. Had a bit of head shake cresting the scoring tower turn. Ran 10 seconds faster than me on his first time out. Made me feel really good with the development of a 35 year old bike. His dad has a Marlboro but it sits like a lot of our bikes. His first comment when he came back was how much fun it was to ride a two stroke race bike. He pushed it to its limit. Plugs looked great on post race inspection.

Awesome stuff Paul! Glad to see the bikes being ringed like they're meant to!

The picture of the three bikes in the corner was great. That is called Charlottes web. Like to post his video but he rode the crap out of it. No one seems to understand that smooth is better on those bikes. If I rode it the way he did the engine would be replaced yearly if not sooner. I will post my video in the track section today. And the TZ is a hoot. I am getting more comfortable with the bike, not more comfortable on it. Need my clip ons pulled up more, a thicker seat pad, additional rear padding for tail section, and some tank grip. Three more track days this year with one being new to me. Also being a pit bitch for a guy at the Barber Vintage Festival Racing. He has a couple TZ 250s. Should be 12 or more there. Looking forward to the event but will be no spectators. There are so many awsome old bikes. Highly recommend the event for anyone that appreciates old bikes.

I will be racing at Barber as well. I have a 3YL TZ250B so first year of the v-twin. My bike is red and white #25S. I am riding the Thursday practice, Open 2-stroke and Sound of Thunder 2 both Saturday and Sunday. I might ride the Trials on Friday, so I better get my bike ready. I have a 1977 TY250D Yamaha for such things. Say hi if you like, I am in camping spot 3W-26 which I believe is level 3 near the pit in, pit out end..

Should be fun, Frank S.
