I think Bill Wilson has a solution for the rear left seal and it uses the same seal as the lower left seal.

I've read that the crank seal fails, I was hoping you don't have to pull the whole motor apart for this, but maybe you do. Do you have to take the motor apart or can you replace it externally? Thanks.

Yes, you have to.
Most of Yamaha crank seals have an outer lip ( not sure of the word ...), so you need to open the crankcases to insert them.

You have to split the cases, Its not that difficult actually, they are a pretty simple engine to work on, Youre removing the head and cylinders anyway, Remove the clutch cover, the clutch basket, there is a bearing retainer that bolts to both halves of the cases, remove that, the 2 allen head bolts that are buried can be a problem sometimes,..
This is what the seals usually look like, Ive worked on a lot of these engines and the seals were toast every time, Same as the 350s.

Thanks for the pictures. Doesn't sound hard. I guess I would like to get the repair kits before starting so I don't have to try and figure out how to put everything back together six months after I take it apart.

LOL, Thats a good idea Paul.. Also, use genuine seals, I have seen other seals fail before the bike has even started,

Can I just get OEM seals from the dealer? I should stay away from the Yambits seal kit?

Do not use the Yambit seals 😂 they are pure crap. Just google the fails. Get your seal from the dealer or from Yambits etc.

I did my cranks with motor in frame and really theres plenty of room, the only thing I had to do was wedge a piece of wood so frame wasn't pushing tight against case on one mount.

"With motor in frame"
That sounds easier than "one person by hand" dealing with a "52 kgs" lump.

So after you guys calibrated me, I spoke to Bill Wilson and he is selling me a complete re-seal kit, everything consumable in the engine. Going to take it all apart, see what I find and hopefully it's not going to be much so I can put it back together.
