Name This Tail

#1 Post by Smoker » Sat Feb 16, 2019 5:17 am

Anyone know if this tail is built or bought?

Guessing it's a one-off, just because I don't recognize it.

Who makes that year of YZR faring? It's not too common. They may make the seat too.

I don't think so.

The tail on the Japanese bike has the pipes outside the frame. The pipes with the Motoforza tail are located inside. The front of the tail, under the tank looks different, as well.

you are (of course) correct.
two vids of builds on youtube this week, one with pipes inside, one outside.
the one shows the extent of the mods he did to his bodywork, but very different.

the one you posted is gorgeous.

Looks like the fairings from Auto Staff Suehiro. They’re located in Chiba, Japan

Thanks, Shane.

I did see this note on the website:

"Currently we are planning an original YZR replica cowl kit to be installed in the RZV 500R. Please expect it."

I didn't see this specific RZV500 tail on their website, but still looking.

Actually, I want a tail that moves the pipes inside the (modified) subframe, so not sure what tail I will use.

Just curious about the original tail I posted, because it's the nicest tail I've seen for the stock pipe configuration . Most of the other tails I've seen look old school, not modern.

Hi Pete,

I'll go to the shop and ask them. They have really cool custom bikes there.

Will let you know when I find out.

Thanks!

Take some pics, if you can.

Wish I could get my bikes finished up, so I could take one more trip to Japan. 🌸🏯🏍

Was going through some old posts and found a pic I posted in my custom bike thread.

Just struck me how this seat/tail look like the one I've been searching for. Looks like an R1 or R6. Not sure of the year. Not sure if this is a race tail or a stock tail. May not be the exact model, but definitely close. Maybe it's been modified a bit to fit the 500 pipes?

Can anyone identify this bike and model year? Any info on this tail would be helpful.
