Christmas upgrade of my hardware...
Fujitsu Celsius H760 (Mobile Workstation), Samsung 24" Screen.

Scan program is much faster and more stable than with the slower laptop of my wife.
And my old Fujitsu Celsius H230 was anyway not able to run the program.

And thanks to the tire service guys...

Yes
And fresh paint with only one mouse click :smt007

But at least they are also in reality ready for painting (for quite a long time...).
I only need to remove the glue spots from the scan marker points. I hope it is easy to remove them by media blasting.
The rough blasting surface makes it impossible to remove them with solvent.

I need to try some different adhesive foil to make my own marker points.
The original stickers are easy to remove but the glue often stays at the part, not at the back of the sticker...

Wheels are finished and this weekend I managed to finish the headlight.
Some small parts (bulb, rubber boot) are missing to finish the whole assembly.

These renderings are awesome! I managed to create a few small aircraft parts (Spencer S-12 Amphibious Aircar) with the (at the time) free Creo Elements Direct Modeling software for Windows (on a now long defunct laptop) but the cost of hardware/software and what limited real use I’d have left it alone for the last few years. It’s still very impressive to see things I’m interested in, like RZ500 parts! shown in rendered 3D format. It had crossed my mind the possibility of certain plastic parts being made with 3D printed technology, and I’d looked into the lowest cost machine that could do high temp plastics that have FAA certification for use in aircraft (and thus would easily be highly suitable for motorcycle race parts) that is the FunMat HT (Functional Materials High Temperature) sold through Vision Miner, about $6k, for parts like the airbox cover or ?

The knobs for the anti-dives I’ve been able to purchase in (I assume PLA) and a chain protector (waiting for delivery...) in an unknown material, probably PLA or if I’m lucky at least ABS.

Cast aluminum parts though would I fear be devastatingly expensive if production using laser sintered layering of aluminum powder, at least for the present.

It’s still something to imagine all the possibilities though!

Yes, metal printing is quite expensive. Parts need to be prepared for printing, not every shape is possible without supporting structuere.

In the end it can be cheaper to print the sand cores for casting which is a common thing for prototype manufacturing.
I'm dreaming about printing positive models for creating a mold. This can be done on a cheap 3D printer.
The casting process itself is simple.
A furnance would be available at the school I went to a few years ago...

I know very little about this, but fully agree.

When I was at the shop of Jeff Henise, he showed me the positive molds he made, and his aluminum sand casting process done in his back yard.

He sand casts his own designed cylinders, and wins races with them.

Very cool that this ancient technique is still practical in our high tech world.

Right, alum melts about 700 F and clay sand cast around a plug sure and the propane fired furnace with crucible all of it a I’ve seen but never tried my hand. Wanted to many times but the time of course I never seem to have enough. For wheels though they’ll take a fair size lathe for finishing and not an uncommon part so much just yet, mine were had for $50 ea with disk rotors, bearings, Cush drive and sprocket, beautiful condition too but black color I’ll have to repaint Nebular Gold.
