Rick Lance assist on track bike

#1 Post by pstamper » Sat Jun 01, 2019 8:46 pm

Feeling a little nostalgic after Rick's passing. About to head to VIR for the Double R Festival next weekend. Was sure hoping that Rick would have made it so he could see his work on track. This motorcycle has provide many, many miles of pure enjoyment. Crashes and all. Has been a wonderful machine with the final piece of the puzzle solved last year with the rear tire size. Travis who was staying with Rick might make it up to get some seat time. Sure hope too see him and God Speed Rick.

Perhaps you can place a tribute to Rick somewhere on the bike?

The windscreen seems like an obvious choice. Where you typically see the riders name you could put Rick's name. Perhaps "Rick Lance in Memoriam" on both sides of the screen.

Its a fast flowing track so should be a good match for your bike which looks really well built for the job. Its a CCS weekend, are you racing or what? Nate will have new BMW's there so you'll get to ride one?
I know when the sun goes down sunday nite it will be rough, can't call Rick and debrief. He always bragged about you and your bike getting put to the test

Missed the debrief with Rick. Usually helped me unwind. Was raining all weekend and unfortunately it dried and sun peeked out late Sunday. Me. 2 laps to pass a RSV4 adrenaline. Dry roads. And new rental Camaro SS did not mesh. Ended up in yard in front of the lodge minus a right tire. Was fun weekend till then.

Note to self, think twice before giving Paul your car keys at track.

Thank you for that. I totally understand. The car actually did very well. Lost the front right tire on a manhole cover. We looked at car as we loaded on wrecker next morn. Nothing suspension wise bent. Wheel and plastic front took the brunt of damage. I am so blessed Rick was watching down and car did not flip. So so so lucky. Pictures after insurance settles or I might be buying a Camaro.
