Where does this terminal go?

#1 Post by Matty » Thu Dec 27, 2018 10:56 pm

I'm putting my RZ back to stock and re-fitting the battery box and battery.
I have two negative wires coming out of the loom at the battery, the larger squarish one goes to the neg terminal on the battery, I can't remember where the other goes.

I just checked my bike. It’s bolted in at the back of the battery to the battery box support bracket.

You're sure that this is original Yamaha work?
I'm asking because it absolutely doesn't make sense to ground a plastic battery housing or a steel clamp that has no frame connection.

Black means ground and needs to be electrically connected with the frame.
With that smart repair on your pic, you have a good chance that the bike won't start due to what's commonly referred to as "bad ground connection".

I just removed this wire from my the battery box on my bike and it goes under a bracket like this, but I thought it was on the bottom and went into the frame, tho mine was off the bike and in a box when I got it.

The steel battery mount bolts to the frame. I dunno, but mine is the same as the picture.

The "1GE" spec bikes had an extra earth wire added to one of the reg bracket screws

Hi, I had a look at the wiring diagram and it says bolted to the frame. The picture Steve shows looks to be the place.
is the 1GE missing the oil tank or did they come like that.
Cheers Ron.

As previously said, your two black wires are for the minus connection to the frame.
Set the squarrish one to the minus of the battery and the round one to the steel bracket of the battery tray as like in the picture of Jackson.
