You're right Martin !
Falsely assumed that the Zeel PCDI-24V was a magneto-CDI by rapidly looking at its wiring diagram : http://www.zeeltronic.com/manuals/RD500 ... 4V_con.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
In fact, it takes power from the YPVS connector and is, as you said, a DC-CDI ! ....
A little regression compared to original CDI : without a charged battery, bike won't start, contrary to original bike who can start even without a battery.

The eBay plugs are the same as those on the CDI and PV controller you sold and are meant to save you the grief of removing them from your CDI and PV controller Paul. I've done business with that seller in the past and had no problems. Can't remember what I bought though. The plugs are something new from him and look to be 3D printed. A good solution for an old problem.

The PCDI24 actually is what you'd refer a magneto CDI. It draws the energy required to create the spark from the source coils plus it needs a 12V supply because the ECU that does the spark timing is based on a 12V circuit.
No 12V supply = no spark.

Then there's the PDCI24 which is a DC type CDI. It doesn't need source coils as it draws the spark energy from the 12V supply. (Obviously this one will draw much more current than the PCDI)

I'm not really happy with Boruts product naming (PCDI and PDCI) as people all the time mistake them or think there's just one product aka "the Zeel ignition". Furthermore he offers a variety of single boxes controlling all-in-one or just ignition or just PV.
Basically if you're told somebody uses "a Zeel", you pretty much need to ask what exactly was used as there are different possibilities to skin the cat.

Ignitech has much less confusion as they only have DC CDIs and they're all named DC-CDI xx.
(just note that on all RD500s I had in my workshop the Ignitech didn't work properly. Seems like an EMV issue. For the RD350 there were no such issues)

"source coils" is the red/green/brown part on the stator.
If you have that and they're OK, it'll work just fine.

With a PDCI you'd have the option to run total loss (=remove rotor/stator) for race use.

This is a well known and reputable shop Paul. Known well among the RZ350 guys and great service. I've bought from them many times. I have never bought connectors there. If you find overseas shipping to be expensive I'm sure one of the US based members would be happy to help you.

I ordered this kit on eBay a few days ago. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/40-Set-Motorcyc ... SwOfdZsOiX" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Black wire is ground, connect it to the black on the loom.
Yellow wire is brake light, connect it to the green/yellow.
Blue wire is tail light, connect it to the blue/red.
