carburettors Mikuni TM 35 setup?
Hello guys,
is there anybody in, who already fixed the carburettors Mikuni TM 35 to a stage III tuned RD engine?
It was a hell of work to fit them, distance plates, VForce reeds, intake pipes many grinding work …
Nothing is matching without rework, also the carbs not.
Several things still to do.
I´m looking for somebody who could give me details about the carb setup.
Anyone in?
Thanks in advance.

Hey Ron,
thanks for the replay.
I checked your post. Nice bike and 110hp are really good.
It sounds that the Mikuni setup with the 135 main jet is not too bad.
Did you also modify or exchange the reeds?
Zeeltronic, good.
I have also a CU, but not installed until now.
Did you do a special programming for ignition and YPVS?
First I like to do the setting for the carbs. I´m going step by step.
I will use EGT at each exhaust for the general setup.

Re: carburettors Mikuni TM 35 setup?
Not sure on the needle choice but would guess your jetting to start in the 280-310 main range, always run a main jet rich on the upper cylinders also. Pilot at 27.5 with the mixture screw out 1.5 turns. Good starting point for the state of tune. EGTs and feel will tell you the midrange with needle tuning and eventually the top end burn.
Let me know how it goes.

Re: carburettors Mikuni TM 35 setup?
Hi, Bill Wilson did the phase 3 tune and did a great job on the intakes. The 35mm TMX carbs
were originally made in left or right, couldn't buy the slides any more but you can swap over the fuel
inlets on these carbs. Borut sent me different tunes work great, makes power to 11,000.
I think if I had different pipes mite get a little more out of the motor. Jetting can't find the paper work
at the moment, running 340 mains with the oil pump. Still using the original intakes with a 6mm spacer on top.
Cheers Ron.

Re: carburettors Mikuni TM 35 setup?
Hi I have a question about the spacer.
Why did you use is and why 6 mm?
I also want to fit 35 TMX on my RS/RD engine but without any spacer. For now my bike is running with 32 koso wothout spacer.

Re: carburettors Mikuni TM 35 setup?
Hm, your two setups sound very different.
Let´s see. I will inform you, what I will do and what will be the output.
Could take a few days or weeks. First I have to fix some other things at the bike.
Thanks.

Re: carburettors Mikuni TM 35 setup?
I had to use the spacers. 6mm under the reeds and 6mm on top of the reeds.
Because the Carbs were too big and the water pump and the alternator were in the direction.
Sure you could also use other intake pipes, but I had already the 4 with 36mm.
And the VFore have to get grinded at the side and also the cylinder to match them.

What would the increased velocity of narrower intake pipes do for such TMX35 setups?

If you use a smaller diameter for the pipe to the reeds as the carb, you will get a whirs at the corner.
They are working against the airflow.
There is only one positive effect, the air and petrol will get better mixed.

3XV Said:
Introducing inlet turbulence solved the pogo effect of the Saturn V Moon Rocket First Stage engines. Took a year and a half to solve! In this case it may produce better atomization at certain inlet velocity but may hamper high speed flow if it is too turbulent. Introducing a vortex could stabilize the turbulence, if it's a problem. In the rocket engine case, asymetrical inlet nozzle positions created turbulence which varied the ignition timing of some of the fuel, resulting in a more linear burn, which stopped the surge effect. After all, a rocket engine is kinda like a 2 stroke without pistons: A no strokeThere is only one positive effect, the air and petrol will get better mixed.

Oh, a real specialist, great.
Not only a self-learning guy like me.
Today was the first start –up.
At least the engine is running with the original setup.
