Collectable bike sales?

#1 Post by Jeff B » Mon May 15, 2017 2:29 pm

Where's a good place to advertise a rare collectable bike for sale?

I am going to let go of the signature series 96 Buell S2T Thunderbolt that I purchased new. I would like to find a good home for it.

No, I haven't, but I am a regular viewer and poster as are others here. The site is very well known to collectors and highlights the type of bikes most here deal with. They provide model information and links to sales, but also host Featured Listings where your bike is featured to a worldwide audience, but without viewers posting comments, good or bad. If you want maximum exposure for little $$ outlay it is a good option. No eBay headaches or Craigslist trolls.

The site has listed plenty of Buells http://raresportbikesforsale.com/?s=+Buell+" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Is the S2T Thunderbolt rare? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1996-Buell-Thun ... 4j&vxp=mtr" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They made about 2000 S2's total. I thought it was about 400 S2T's like mine. I'd call it rare. I've never seen another one for sale as close to stock as mine. Most people had engine work done to increase hp. It's a nice bike that will be worth something some day. Unfortunately Buell's have never had good resale value so I've got that working against me.

The bottom line with any collectible is finding that 1 buyer that has the itch that needs scratching, with the cash on hand versus the rest of the buyers that just see another used bike - what about Buell forums or owner groups?

I tried a Buell forum last year. Very little traffic. I plan to post it there again, but not much hope. I wish there was a big bike show for bikes other than Harley's around here.
