It doesn't matter. It's a carbed bike and I'd be buying it to ride it. I'm not one for turning bikes into home museum pieces. If you own it, ride it.
Maybe I'll win the lottery and fly over and bring it home myself. A guy can dream I guess.

I don't think an R1 is the right comparison, more a Triumph Street Triple 675, Daytona or an MV Brutale 675 or Agusta 675. Light, powerful and cheaper.
What it is is an
So few made and none will have reached high mileage and what problems and climb downs with the initial models to just get it on the road. I wouldn't give it high points for expected reliability.

I think spares are more readily available for an RD500 than other strokers due to numbers manufactured and the support of Yamaha for the model.AWESOME ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION!
