I’ve heard about Plastex for awhile now but never tried it - yet.

Nice repair!

I've been using Plastex for years and I consider it the best product for this, by far. It takes a little practice, but overall a great product.

If I had a signature, it would be good.

I agree. It's amazing what you can repair and create with it. The only warning I would give to new users of it is that it shrinks back slightly over time. If you're using it under your finished paint surface, give it a month or two to finish curing before you do your final surface sanding. Otherwise, you'll probably see the repair in your final paint after a couple of months as it shrinks.

The kit includes a couple of reusable bars that you're supposed to heat up to create molds for reproducing missing sections or tabs. I had no luck with those. I had good success using beeswax to create molds for the missing pieces. Just warm it up until it becomes soft enough to create the shape you want.

Interesting to know about the shrinkage. Will see what happens. Have been using the product for years on the 500. Wish they had something that would work on the rear side covers. Must be something with the plastic being heat resistive. The molding bars work well once you get use to them. It is nice to be able to fit a contoured part with an edge and that it stays flexible to get it around the panel you might be working on. I cut two bad front cowls in half and put them bake together to make one good one.

I used it on my rear side covers to do a few repairs and close up the grab bar holes with no issues. Were you meaning that it fails when subjected to the heat?

The rear covers by the pipe are a different type of plastic. The product will not work
