3D printer in need of some photos

#1 Post by sfbrain » Sun Jul 18, 2021 5:39 pm

Hi Guys
This is my first post here and I dont currently own a RD500 (but i do own many RDs incl 400, 350, 250 a TDR250 and a FS1E).
I have a 'dayjob' (in MotoGP) but i am well known on several RD forums as the '3D printing guy' i 3D print many 'Unobtainium' parts for RD's, like airbox lids, brake reservoirs, switchgear internals etc etc.

I have been asked to 3D print the 'battery cover' for the RD500, unfortunatly the sample i have been provided has been heavily chewed by a dog and i cant see how the cover should originaly look like, so........

Could somebody please provide me with a few photos of the original battery cover ??

This is as far as i can get with the chewed cover

Thanks guys, if there are any other bits of RD500 'unobtainium' that you think i could reproduce, just let me know.

Cheers

What format are you using?

Pretty sure a STEP. file can be used to CNC an unobtanium part. I would like a file that would allow me to have the part fabricated.

I'm interested in a file for the RZV500 kickstand bracket. (Different than the RZ500 bracket). I do have the original part. I want to have the part CNC'd in titanium.

I may have the original battery cover that you're looking for. I'll have to check.

What other RD forums are you on?

Hi Guys

I'm based in the UK,

STEP files are best for manufacturing of metals parts, I use STL files for 3D printing (STL files can be conversted to STEP)
3D printing is great for prototyping parts before manufacture in metal.

Anyone got some photos for me ???
