Barber event

#1 Post by rz500guytexas » Wed Sep 18, 2019 11:32 pm

Lucky enough to be headed to Barber to watch racing and post race track day on the RZV500. Did this last year and was a lot of fun. Know a few riders so will be nice to say hello and fit in a little. My good friend John from RDs Only Texas is going. I have praised the place and hope it meets his expectation. No track in the world in my opinion can compare with the facilities. There is the motorcycle sculptures throughout the entire facility, the ground are comparable to a country club, has the worlds largest motorcycle museum, and has just friendly southern hospitality from the security, guides and shuttle staff . They just completed an addition to the museum and are currently building a flight museum. The track just completed a total resurface a few months ago. I rode Circuit Of The Americas when it was new and nothing compares to a brand new track. Any motorcycle enthusiast needs to come and visit. Headed back to the Barber Vintage Festival in a few week also. Pictures and track video to follow.

It is to the right next to the storage area entrance with a Porche 356 next to it. It take 2 to 3 days to really enjoy it. And the track is OK also. The people that work and volunteer there are all so friendly.

Yes thats right, its behind a bunch of stuff.... but so is the RG500 as well lol They were still surfacing the track when i was there.

If in doubt anyone, visit Barber. It was on my bucket list and even my Mrs thought it was cool as she isnt a biker at all.

I will be at the vintage festival from Wednesday through Sunday. I don't have room for an RZ or an RG but I will be riding practice on Thursday racing Sat/Sun. 91 red and white TZ250 #25s. Say hi if you see me.

I've been to Barber before with a buddy who was racing his Kart but this will be my first Vintage Festival. Going with a couple of buddies and really looking forward to it. I rented an RV for the trip and will be staying on the grounds. This year I won't be taking any bikes but I would love to do that in the future. Any heads up as to what the weather is usually like there?

I will be there at least one day .
Had planned on the whole weekend, and had my RZV set up to get into the VJMC show.....but my spare week turned into just a couple days.
11 hour one way drive eats into show time, so I'm just driving down to see it all.
Been to the museum....words do not describe how incredible it is....it is truly a dream.

Jeff Henise will be racing there.

Find him and give him a pat on the back.

It's the last race of the year, and he could still win the championship. He's also a current Land Speed Record holder.

He's also a pure 2-stroker. One of our own. :smt023

Today was practice for me at Barber. Practice is available tomorrow as well, but I am going to see what else is going on.

On Saturday and Sunday I am in race 12 - open two-stroke and race 14 - sound of thunder 2. Both on my '91 tz250 25S.

Stop and say hi if you see my bike. I am on the second level close to the the pit in / pit out end.

We had a nice time at Barber, but it sure was hot. I fell in my first race, but my other three were a blast. In the second 2-stroke race I was able to stick with a group of 5 riders for about a lap and a half, probably the best I have ever done. Riding with other 2-strokes is great as we take much more similar lines than the point and shooters in Sound of Thunder.

I sold one of my TZR250s Sunday at lunch, the 92, so even with the crash, I left with more money than I came with. That is definitely a first.

I was able to borrow a footpeg plate from a friend and got it changed and re-teched between race 12 and 14 on Saturday. :smt023
