Having fun with Ride2 on the PS4 - Video included :)

#1 Post by RC45 » Thu Aug 03, 2017 5:53 pm

Its been a while since I have enjoyed a motorcycle video game. Last decent one for me was Tourist Trophy on the PS2 more than 10 years back. I have passed over the GP games for a while now the first ones I tried years back seemed implausibly easy to lap like a Doohan or Rossi.

On a whim I decided to give Ride2 on the PS4 a try - mostly because it has all the big 2 strokes and the RC30 and 45 :)

Here are some screen shots taken on my new favorite track - the impossibly tricky and challenging Ulster GP road course. Youcan view replays but not save them unfortunately.

I might snag a copy on Steam for the PC as well, that way I can use the Nvidea app to record replays.

If you have a decent PC setup maybe try it as a Steam download before splashing out on a new console.

But kicking back in front of the TV is a lot of fun :)

I used to play Tourist Trophy a lot, and also enjoyed Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3, but my son wanted to upgrade to a PS4 which made GT5 redundant. Sounds like this is worth a go once the leaves come off the trees.

Ok - spent a little while last night figuring out the PS4 video capture, editing and sharing features.

Here is my modded virtual RG500 being flogged over 2 laps round Belfast :)

And some more eye candy.

Wow, looks like great fun! I'm a bit old and missed the video generation but the stills look incredibly real/authentic. Maybe a PS4 is in my future to chase off the winter doldrums.. :-)

All my favourite bikes are from the 80's and 90's - Ride2 has all the good ones :)

I'm going to pick this one up, it would be awesome if someone made a realistic controller, a force feedback wheel and pedals on Gran Turismo made all the difference versus steering with your thumb.

Still need to spend some time thrashing about on the VDue, the 3XV and the MC28. I also have the VJ23 and KR1-S to take on a beating round the Ulster GP course.

Then on to the other 750s. The OW01, the ZX7R and the grand daddy of all the light weights - the slab-side GSXR750 :)

And yes, the lack of a proper dedicated ride on bike controller does bum me out, I will be first inline to buy a proper one - so I just sit forward on couch in a semi race crouch and have my controls as gas right trigger using my right middle finger, front brake is right bumper controlled by my right fore finger.

Shift up is left trigger (GP layout :P) and down shift is left bumper. Use my left fore finger - and lean with my left thumb.

Rear brake is my right thumb on the X button.

That's when I am feeling all Eddie Lawson - other wise I use linked brakes and auto-shift when grinding for cash to buy my bikes :) LOL
