Coolant

#1 Post by Ron57 » Sat Aug 27, 2016 8:23 am

Hi picked up this coolant today, going to try it out on the RZ500. Liquid intelligence seems
to have a very good positive reviews by all who have used it. Hopefully will run a bit cooler in the summer months.

The one fits the RZ350. The RZ500 should be the same as far as fitment goes.

Yamaha OEM snowmobile stat #82m-12411-00.Temperature is 50*C. Should be plug and play.

Thanks Silverstrom.
Does anybody run one of these?
Just wondering if any down side to having the thermostat open earlier..... :???:
Seems like this could be a good compromise, as just removing or drilling extra holes in the stock stat affects the water flow distribution, but having one that opens earlier just seems right to me...

Hi The problem I've been having a bit of an issue on the hot days is build up of heat even when the fan comes on temperature doesn't really drop till you pick the speed up. This coolant hopefully will help.
Cheers Ron.

Not sure on the 500, but on the 350 it requires a spacer to allow the stat to fully open. It will still work without, just not fully open. Drop it in a pot of water and bring to a boil, pull it out and quickly drop it in a head to see if it seats all the way.

Is that the Yamaha stat Russ, or the Ski-doo stat?

The RGV250 (VJ21) thermostat is another option. http://www.cmsnl.com/suzuki-rgv250-1989 ... 767012c00/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Works 100% without the spacer, It will touch the head when it fully opens, BUT, It opens more than the stock stat at that stage.. As I said, The bike runs great with the temp reading a lot lower than the stock stat...

That was the Yamaha 50 C sled t-stat, took about 5mm spacer to allow full open. Like tacky1 said it may be open same or further than stock by the time it contacts the head but I preferred it to be able to open all the way. Just pointing it out for those as uptight as me.
