I've just watched it again. The excitement of those bikes seems so much more than the current electronics driven MotoGP. I don't see Marquez finding life so comfortable on one of those animals. Tremendous.

I think you are wrong there, IMO I think he is just the type of rider who would have rocked those 2 strokes. I think he would have been like Schwantz or Gardner, maybe even Kenny. Would be awesome to find out.Ronnie wrote:I've just watched it again. The excitement of those bikes seems so much more than the current electronics driven MotoGP. I agree with you solo, Marquez on a 500 would be pretty special I think. Watched Part 2 last night, absolutely stonking, okay the 4 strokes slide and wheelie but not in the same manner as the old 2 strokes even though the 4 strokes won in their first year. Would have be interesting if the 2 strokes had been developed more alongside the 4 strokes where they would be now. I guess in the last year maybe 2 years when the manufacturers knew the 2 strokes where going to be phased out development stopped anyway.
In the off road world 2 strokes are still extremely popular and even Honda are supposedly going to be bringing out ne 2 stroke Motocrossers and if Honda do others will have to follow which would then lead to new road bikes and who knows.

I'm not convinced he'd be as dominant. There wasn't many, if any, 'little' guys that went on to be 500cc World Champion. It took a fair bit of strength and physical size to master those machines.

So when is someone going to load it up for viewing or download?
