Hi everyone, here are some photos of my rd500 restore, the bike is a 1984 47x .Its costing alot but great fun.
Started by stripping it down to its last nut and bolt
Had the frame powder coated but the match was not good.In the end i had the paint made up to match

rd500 restore
Well i have had a great day today, meet up with a fellow rd500 owner from castle donnington. It was nice to have a good look around a unrestored rd500 in good condition and a rz500 which will be going on ebay soon. And now i have a spare engine which is allways a good thing to have !!.It now means i have all my barrels on std bore with yamaha pistons. In the next few months i should have the cases sprayed, cranks rebuilt, ready to go.

Finishing Cases
Hey Jackson,
Nice job. It's going to look good when it's done.
I was curious what finish product you are going to use on the cases (powdercoat, paint, etc...)?
I've got a set of cases all nicely bead blasted and am just at the point of deciding how to finish them. With the amount of work it is to get them stripped to this stage, I really don't want to be doing this again next year. javascript:emoticon(':-)')
Smile
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,i am still trying to work that one out for myself,i spent the other night looking at the archived post for an answer.I think i will end up bead blasting the cases and use pj1 engine case black spray. Its a good match for the original finish .But i will give it to the guy who has been doing all my paintwork so i get a good standard of work. Super nice jackson, gezz man if I did all that detail there is no way I could even ride it for fear of foul'n it up,when I get done riding or when parts get so difficult to come by for mine I would like to build it up with a clean restro like yours ... you plan on riding it or trailering it ? either way great job
