The company emailed me back with a number for a UK wholesaler. Turns out they are in Okehampton, just 25ish miles away from me! Spoke to the wholesaler who told me they don't stock the plastic paint but they do a race back - I said no to that, so I'm back to square one! They won't order any in either cause they would have to order too much.

Let me get my brakes done and I'll contact you for some paint!

Some updates, on what has turned out to be a marathon restoration for me. She has being lying...loved...but untouched for too many months, but space and time have lined up so a bit of progress has been made.
Forks are heading off for a grind down and rebuild due to some pitting in the wrong places. Wheels are awaiting tyres, having been repainted and not powder coated. I still have a few boxes to re open and examine so as to re discover what needs painting / rebuilding or just cleaning. Lesson learned from this so far....NEVER work on more then one project at the same time

One Hour Ago.....my project just breathed for the first time in a little over 2 years

The day was spent filling the fluids for a test start. Temp fuel tank rigged and a pre-mix arranged to act as a safe guard for the oil pump. All pipes plumbed up and tightened..checked and double checked...and I still managed to miss the water drain bolt  . So a quick nip up and fuel tap on !!!.....ignition on....dash lights norm...power valve whir... ...5 kicks later...............the air split to the sound of Yamaha's V4 coming back to life

Its beer time now...as she cools after her first heat cycle... and an opportunity to make the final list of "to do's and to get's".

Jesus its some feeling !!!

(now the pessimist takes over in me...where is the problem waiting)

its a great feeling for sure.... and a beautiful noise....

when you build an engine that feeling of doubt never goes away.... you are listening for every odd noise that doesnt really exist...

OK...So here is the first problem after the first heat cycle.

Once the engine was fully cooled down, this small weep appeared on the bottom cylinders base. :???: ***viewed looking up from ground between the bottom pipes***

also this oil line not filling although something WAS trying to get through.

and from the list of "to do's".... Rev Counter not working...any suggestions on where and what to check?

P.S....the beer helped take away some of the pain of watching the weep !

I dont think the coolant leak comes from the cylinder base, since the exhaust header pipe next to it is also wet. I am sure it drops down from the heads or thermostat housing etc.

I hope you run premix during this heat cycle?

check your fuse on the battery positive lead...

dont overtighten your head bolts... you will snap a stud

check for a kink in the oil lines..... run premix until you get the oil lines sorted....

close but no cigar yet.... keep at it

I would remove the autolube pump, and run it with a drill until you get oil flowing through that line.

Or run it on premix as suggested and hold the pump wide open at idle until the oil gets down there.

If it's been sitting a long time sometimes the tach will freeze up. When it's sorted try about a 25 mile run, I've had them come back to life if you haven't already found a cause.

Thanks for the responses guy's.

Yes I have it on pre mix at the moment ...about 40.1 ?

wolf...it seems to be the bases...the weep seems to start / gather there then runs horizontal to the heads then onto the headers.
The rest of the engine is dry ?

Aaron...Fuse on the bat positive is fine.
I won't touch the bolts...I did check and torque them at the time.
Lines not kinked.
....can i at least "buy" the cigar?

Hybrid / Gary ..will try holding it open for the 3rd cycle and see what happens...then move onto the drill !!!

Mike...on the second cycle...the tacho moved itself to between 1-2 000...but was static in this position. After I shut it down it remained at this postion for about an hour...then when I checked it again it was back to zero. ??
Your "freeze" theory could be it.

So as I said...2nd cycle done...fired up again no problem and sounds strong.
should there be much blipping of throttle during cycles or should i leave it at tick over ???
Fan kicks in once the temp needle goes to about 3/4 of the sweep ? I guess thats about right ??

3 rd cycle coming up in a few hours !!

Thought you might like to see he result of cleaning the tank with white vinegar. This was after 4 days of it doing its work.

I "Think"...the weep has gone away
The oil line is now working.....I found there was a bad seal at the pump nipple between it and the pipe. So fixed the seal...ran the pump fully open and job done.

Now time to wash out the tank with the power washer !
