Maybe Xmas..................Although thinking about it I said that last year!

I'm probably going to run it up without putting the loom on the bike properly. Not doubting my ability to rebuild the engine, but that way I can rip it all down again a bit easier if required. :-P

I've been putting it off all day.....Almost too nervous to start it up after completely stripping it and rebuilding. New cranks, rebore, pistons etc....

It's been almost 5 years since joining this forum the day I picked up my 500 and starting my resto project.

Well......I started it up tonight and flip me it fired and ran after about 3 kicks.

I'd like to say this forum has been a valuable source of info and guidance and I guess thats what I need next. What should I do now. The bike isn't rideable yet. Do I need to heat cycle the engine? Tighten check????

As usual, any guidance would be appreciated.

Cheers

Pete

PS Might try and post a vid tomorrow.

Yes, go through a few heat cycles and re-torque the cylinders and heads.

Well.............I rode my 500 for the first time today. It wasn't road worthy when I bought it so obviously didn't get to go on it 6 or so years ago.

All seems well. Only real niggle may be the clutch. Seems a little stiff gear changing when the engine is running. Its quite tricky to get into neutral. Literally only when 400 yards on it though.

Just needs paint now really including exhausts and the seat recovering

looks great and doesn't it make you feel good? Hope it will be a rider and not trailer queen. These were meant to show off. It is nice when the Ducati riders group come to your bike over all the others at a get together. Even better invited to ride with them. You and your boy should feel proud.
